I'm in the 30 to 40 bracket and only use pads... unless I happen to be going swimming while Aunt Flo is visiting, but that is like once or twice a year, so yeah, pretty much all pads.

I also have a low cervix and wearing tampons for an extended period of time is extremely uncomfortable. I get horrible cramping after less than an hour of wearing one. Pads are gnarly too, but better than feeling like someone is kicking me in my hoo-ha repeatedly.

I actually stopped using the Always pads and went back the the good ol Stayfree pads. The Always ones were giving me a rash and when I brought it up to my doc she said that she sees this alot and she can tell someone that uses Always pads because they have the "Dri-weave" pattern stamped on their girly parts. O.o Oh my! So back to the old-style cotton ponies I ride once a month!

I'm 10-20 and I use a menstrual cup. All the benefits of tampons without any of the pollution, discomfort or achy feeling you get after wearing one for too long. They hold more too, and have no risk of TSS.

And as for pads... ugh, the itching. They're so uncomfy.

Oh wow. I dont even know what a mentral cup is, so I didnt include it in the poll. I can pretty much figure out what it does. lol But how does it fit? Inside you? Outside?

That sounds like an idea

Inside. If you're comfortable with having to fiddle about a bit inside yourself and don't mind getting your hands a bit icky then they're great. They're made out of silicone so they're flexible and once it's in you don't feel it at all.

hmm..that's interesting. I will have to google it. Thank you!

I heard from sooo many women that these are great, I think I'll try them out once I get my period after having Alicia & of course once I get the ok from the dr to use anything but pads! Thanks for reminding me

I never used tampons until I had my daughter. After I had her, I was like, what the hell am I worried about. I can shove a watermelon sized child out of there and I'm worried about a little tampon?

I love them. I feel so much cleaner during my period. I'll never go back to pads.

when you lay down, do you ever worry about the contents sloshing out???

No, it suctions itself to the vaginal wall so nothing gets out, and you can wear it while swimming, having a bath, etc so water doesn't get in either. The suction means getting it out initially may be slightly scary, (it can feel like it's stuck, or that you're pulling too hard) but there's a lot of tips online and once you've gotten used to it it's no bother.

That sounds a bit scary though

i sometimes get itchiness with pads if it's too high absorbency for the time of the period. i think it 'dries you out.' ie, don't use the overnight pad if you are having a light day.

dri-weave pattern, lol. i've never seen that but now am curious! i hope it is not permanently tatooed on me down there!

I think the product one of the other posters was referring to was the Moon cup

I used to do the tampon/pad combo - now I only wear tampons......all day everyday until my period is done.......I cant believe I never thought of doing that before. There is nothing bulky between my legs, no pad itch, nothing.

And Cat, like you, I couldnt wear tampons all the time because the regular or slender would cause cramps......so then I switched to the lite ones (purple) and they dont hurt.

Sure they arent as thick but during the heavy days, I just change a bit more frequently then I did with the bigger ones.
