peeing problem...

Recommended Posts

yes, would rather not post this, but I was looking for some opinions.

just so you know, I do plan to see my doctor this week, but I was just gonna see if anyone here has had a similar experience to mine..

in the past, I never had a problem with peeing.. in fact, I peed less than most people I knew

then, I started peeing more (this is probably within the last year), I would have to get up at night at least once to use the washroom, which I could handle

but lately.. I have to get up between 2 - 5 times during the night to pee. Sometimes I just don't want to get up again so I try to hold it, but then I start to get a cramp. The last two nights have been the worst. I was up probably once every 2 to 3 hours. It's not the kind of having to pee where you can't hold and I'll have an accident - that's not the case. I could hold it, but it's very uncomfortable and annoying to have to.

I've probably peed 9 times today already and I have to go again. I just went an hour ago..

I don't believe that I drink a lot of fluids (any more than I have in the past)

During the day it seems to be okay usually, but the night time is really getting annoying!

anyone ever experienced this? if so, what was the cause?

I'm going to get a physical this week, so hopefully I'll find something out there.

It sounds very much like a urinary tract infection. They're common in women. Your doctor can give you medication for it. In the meantime, try drinking cranberry juice (not the sweetened "cocktail" versions, the real stuff) or taking cranberry pills, which you can get at the drugstore. That could give you some relief.

But she said it's gotten worse over the past year? I've had UTIs before & I can't take it for more than a day before going to the Dr; it's so painful! What can I say, I'm a sissy when it comes to pain!

The thing is, aren't UTI's painful?

I don't actually experience any pain unless I try to hold my pee in for too long.. then I just get cramps - they aren't even horrendously painful, just annoying.

Depends. I've had UTIs that give me horrible pain after a week or so, and some that are just uncomfortable. And I often get the cramps along with it.

How long has this been going on?

well, I've had to get up during the night 1-2 times for probably half a year or more now.

just lately, like the past 3 nights it has been from 2-5 times per night.

I suppose it could be a low-grade UTI that's just flaring up now.. but usually a UTI would've evolved into a kidney infection after six months.

Definitely see your doctor.
