Reusing a name?

Let's say you had a boy and girl name picked for a baby and you obviously did not get to use one or the other would you use the name that you could not use for your next child's name selection? Would you pick totally different names?

Depends on the reason for not using the name. If you had the name Daniel picked out and the child happened to be a girl then yes, the next baby who is a boy can be named Daniel. However, if you knew you were having a boy and you chose the name Daniel, and then you had a miscarriage or still birth, I would not suggest naming any subsequent boys Daniel...in order to preserve the memory of the one you lost AND in order to make sure the new boy has his own identity and not as a reminder of the first boy.

I'd choose a different name. I'm not entirely sure in what context you are talking about, but I had a name chosen for my first child (ended in miscarriage), and I didn't use that name for my next child. I chose a different name.

Ohhhhhhh, lol. In that case if I chose a name for a boy, but had a girl, then the next child is a boy, then yes, I would use that name - that is if I still liked it, lol.

I know my name was floated around for my sister, among others, and then they ended up using it when I was born.

 

I think I would if I really liked a certain name - why not? - unless I had a feeling it didn't "suit" the baby once the baby was born.

May parents did it with me. They thought they were having a boy and had a family name all picked out. Lucky for them their next child was a boy and he now has that name. I'm glad they didn't try to turn the family name into a feminine name and use it anyway....like some people do. If you still like the name and have a baby of the apporpriate sex on the way then go ahead!

My sister did that. My nephew (second born) has the name my niece would have had if she was a boy. They really liked the name and there is a bit of family significance in the name.
