How would an ex act?

Awkward at first. Not knowing if the other person is thinking the same may hold a person back from being straightforward about wanting to get back together. Some people also play hard to get for a bit, even if they ultimately want to reconcile. The only obvious sign might be a sudden change in their attitude towards you. If they were nasty to you throughout the break up, they may tone it down a bit and act a little nicer. They might be more welcoming of contact from you and just be overall nicer. But anything else they might do will wait until they see how the person reacts. If they get cues that the other person is thinking they want reconciliation as well, then their actions might become more obvious to reconciliation.

I dont know if that is true in all cases. My ex is nicer to me, but doesnt want to get back together.

I'm the same as butterfly0424... my ex and I caught up yesterday and he was very nice to me but I can't look into any of his words, actions because in the end, I know he still doesn't want to get back together.

I think it also depends on how the break-up, well, ended...if two people ended on relatively good terms, the ex can appear nice afterward but still not want to get back.
