asthesparrow
Hi guys, I want to discuss life and careers. I am 22, and for about 15 years I have wanted to do web & graphics design. I started out with a year of university, but deferred. To be honest, I found my motivation for digital work to be severely lacking (even though I was top of the class), but I absolutely fell in love with traditional mediums (drawing, painting, etc.), even though I sucked! So, I defferred, thinking I'd take a year to re-coup & think about what I really want to do. 6 months later, I still would love to do design, I have goals to work for publishing companies, small design studios, record labels, and, eventually, freelance. I hope to accomplish all of this over the next 8 years. It's not a matter of connections (I have lots), or having a great portfolio, it's mostly that I doubt my own skills, and lack the motivation to complete uni. But, I know once I complete uni, and focus/work hard, I will have the skills, and I will be proud. So, I plan to go back to uni start of 2011 to finish my degree & start my career. I just want to know a few things from whoever reads this: - How did you work out what you wanted to do career/life-wise? - Did you have doubts at the start (say, during uni)? - Did you ever change your mind? - If you have begun your "career", is this what you saw yourself doing/wanted in your 20's? Thanks (: Link to comment
