memphis1
What is the process of getting your license when you're over the age of 18? What are the required documents? Do you just walk in, take test, mail license a week later? Can someone explain this to me in detail. This is for NC by the way. Link to comment
Sanesoul
My husband got his license at 21. He took the test for the learner's permit, got that. Had to wait two weeks for the driver's test, but took it and passed on the first try. No classes needed. Link to comment

BellaDonna
do you have to have car insurance to have a license In my state you do no need it to simply get a license- you do need it if you are trying to register a particular car. Link to comment
Stinkweed
It kinda depends on the state. In my state, they don't require a learner's permit if you're over 18. I was 18 and without a learner's permit and just got an appointment, went there, took the test, and got my license. Link to comment

BellaDonna
Just make sure you bring the right stuff with you- or you will wait several hours only to be told you are missing something like a signature, a piece of mail, or whatever they decide you have to present to prove you are who you are. (That is common in my state- after waiting 8 hours in a DMV you can be sent home and get nothing accomplished ) Link to comment
