Why do dumpers say "Maybe we could get back togeather YEARS in the future?"

Well in my case, my ex dumped me when she was sent to a different military base. It isn't like she had a choice, and even though we discussed LDR, I think she felt it was too difficult and not fair for either of us. (However I was willing to work through it) I'd like to think that some time down the road, we might reconnect. But just thinking that right now is interfering with my own healing and moving forward. Yep.. it sucks.
