ca-sunshine
I've realized that I look very similar to both the ex of someone I dated, and to another interest of someone who is interested in me. I understand that people often just have a "type" they like, physical characteristics they are attracted to - something has to initially catch their eye. What I noticed though was that the similarities I shared were "changeable" features: hairstyle, shape of glasses, etc. I know it's silly, but I have to admit it bothers me a little. I wish I could put my finger on exactly why. (I certainly don't think their choice in type is wrong - it got me some dates! ) I'll add too that I've realized I don't have a physical type - my history has different sizes, shapes, and colors. Just wanted to see what other people felt about being with someone and maybe realizing they fit into a (maybe superficial) "type". Is there a certain point at which it makes you uncomfortable? HerDestiny
Oh, uncomfortable isn't the word for how I felt once. Met this guy, sweet and great looking. We had similar interests...sounded good. He was very interested in me, to the disappointment of quite a few women who were interested in him. I felt honored. And then...one of his close friends informs me I'm almost his ex's identical twin! You know what? I ran the other way. I mean, I couldn't get it out of my head he was trying to date his ex all over again only hoping for a better outcome with me, his "second chance". greywolf
I just think people are attracted to certain things. I think glasses are really cute on girls, and a guy that can pull off looking good in glasses is super hot.
pinkelephant
ya, i understand why it's uncomfortable. you feel like a replacement, rather than someone special. like, if i dated a guy and found out his dead ex gf looked like me, i would bolt so fast. ca-sunshine
Glad to know others can be a bit weirded out too. I figured it fell somewhere between them just liking my haircut/glasses/etc. and asking me to wear the ex's clothes.
Shallow
Really? This creeps y'all out? I'd just figure I was their "type" (which would be odd in a different way, as I don't think I'm anyone's "type"). I mean, if I had my druthers (which I don't), I'd date the same "type" 'til I found one that stuck with me.
-Sanguine-
I look like my boyfriends ex when I wear my glasses..doesn't really bother me. I'll also add though, that I think it bothers him that he doesn't look anything like guys I've dated in the past.
