Zippy020
On Sunday i spent the day at the beach. I thought I was okay, since I spent most of the day in the shade. Somehow I still managed to get a sunburn on my face. It looked like a normal sunburn, and I didn't think it was that bad. When I got home on Sunday night I felt sick after taking a cold shower, dizziness and throwing up. I went to sleep and woke up on Monday feeling better, but noticed my face was a little bit swollen between my eyes on my nose, my forehead and my cheeks. I didn't do anything about it and figured it would go away on its own. Yesterday (Tuesday) I woke up and it was swollen a lot more than before. I called the doctor, who told me to put oatmeal on my face about 4 times throughout the day and to wash it off with only water. It seemed to go down a little bit. When I woke up this morning,I noticed that the swelling came back and is almost the same as it was yesterday morning. Has anyone ever experiences this? If so, what did you do to get rid of it, and how long did it take to go away? Thanks in advance for any help! Link to comment
Shortpants
I am a redhead with extremely fair skin and get sunburnt very easily. I have had everything from a regular sunburn to blisters to sun poisoning. Sounds like you got very close to sun poisoning, the dizziness and vomiting sound oh so familiar to me! It can take up to 3 to 5 days for the swelling to lessen. I took Tylenol and Ibuprofin when the pain was really bad. Cool baths worked better for me than showers, as showers tended to hurt more. Aloe Vera gel helped, I kept mine in the fridge so it was nice and cool. You can also take some Benedryl to try and help with the swelling. Lidocaine can also sometimes numb the pain. I'm so sorry, I feel your pain. Keep it moisturized and drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated. Take care! Link to comment
