what do people in general think about acne?

i have a semi mild case of acne. to me, it feels really severe, i guess cause its on my face, but i think in the bigger picture it isn't too bad compared to others. its mostly on the lower half of my face. and most if isn't actualy pimples, its just red marks from previous pimples, i usually have no more than 4 or 5 at a time, so it covers okay with makeup..

 

its just really hard for me to feel girly or as good as anyone else who doesn't have acne when my face is badly broken out. its constantly on my mind and it really eats at me.

 

i was just curious what people think about others who have acne. for guys, does it affect how pretty a girl is to you in a major way? and girls, if you have clear skin does it gross you out to see another girl with acne?

 

ive been wondering this for a long time, and i think this is a good place to ask. thanks

i have/ had acne so it doesn't bother me as much since i know what its like...even though mine is mostly gone now. I think as long as you're trying to solve the problem then someone should be able to see your beauty beyond the acne and know its only temporary (though yes, it does generally makes people less physically attractive IMO)

anyone worth having in your life will look past any flaws, exspecially one so little. to think about it, i don't notice acne on anyone else, aside from myself.

 

remember you're your biggest critic. real friends, lovers, people in general, etc. will look past any of that. basically the only ones who won't are ones with bigger insecurities about themselves searching for something to pick themselves up.

I started getting acne when I was just ten years old by eleven I was wearing make up simply to hide it as much as I could due to the fact that people were bullying me.

 

A little acne however is something most people seem to look past, just do your make-up a little more carefully if you wear it and most likely people won't really care because it's so normal. It's only if you have it like I did that you need to go to the doctors or something.

Well, it sounds like yours isn't really obvious. Most people probably wouldn't even see it right away when looking at you.

 

I've been having some skin issues lately and I've been feeling pretty self-conscious about it. I've always had perfectly clear skin in the past, and for the past year, I've been getting a mild case of acne I suppose. I don't know why either. It's silly that my skin problems started when I was 19! I thought that wasn't how it worked.

 

I feel a little silly for being so bothered by it (because it's really not that bad), but it's bothering me and I think I'm going to see a dermatologist.
