having a hard time keeping up with months

okay i am a first time mom and im having a hard time keeping count of how old my baby boy is he was born in spetember on the 18th. me and my girlfriend thought he was 6months but everyone telling us we are off, some are saying he is younger and some are saying he is older, Help me if you can please i would be great thankfull.

He's 5 months and a half, more or less, he'll be 6 months on March 18th.

I don't understand. Math is not a matter of personal opinion... he is 5 months and a half and that's that.

That's exactly what I was thinking... I don't really understand the confusion.

^ It's quite a common dilemma. I don't know if this is what has happened here because I haven't worked out the dates, but some parents continue counting in weeks by the day (friday - friday) for much of the baby's first year, rather than swap to months on the given birthdate at say 4 months old. Obviously counting in weeks, they differ slightly.
