The never ending pimple...

I have what I refer to as a never ending puss ball on my face. I have had this thing for about a year now. It started out as just a regular pimple and I decided to pop it. It only really swelled up and got red once. All the other times it just gets puss in it. This is on my face. This is hard to explain so please bare with as I try to explain it better.

Imagine it is next to your noes, and you never really feel it, in fact most everyone cannot even see it. It even seems that skin grows over it. You only know it is there by the tiny dot of white that appears to bubble slightly under your skin. You can wait a whole month and it does not disappear. I squeeze it and it doesn't pop because it is too far under the skin, but when I poke it with a needle the puss comes out. I have thought of the possibility that I am causing it to puss up by squeezing it, making it swell and then having a self fulfilling prophecy. But alas I have tested this theory by not touching it for weeks, and it stays there fresh without changing color, drying up, or going away at all/shrinking.

Has anybody ever had this before?

You should really try and resist the urge to pop it bc it probably does aggravate it.

If it has persistently shown up for a year in the same area, maybe it's time to see a specialist -- they can extract it and sterilize the area properly so that it wont come up again.

Still say go to your GP first. They can often fix such things without the time, money and inconvenience of a specialist, and it may be totally paid for as a standard office visit depending on locale or insurance. If you are outside the US in a country with socialized medicine, you could be waiting for ages to get into the dermatologist's office. Your GP will refer you if necessary.
