Is it ok for me to use an editor to edit my MA assignments? Is it allowed? What can I do to improve my grades. I'm an international student.

I would also ask your professor and see what he/she can recommend. Your professor will probably admire your integrity and want to help.

Does your school have a special writing center for this? Mine did, and I know others do too--and if yours does, since it's a part of the school it would be more than okay.

There's a difference between a proofreader and an editor. An editor changes words and moves things around and often changes the point of the piece. A proofreader checks it for grammar, clarity, organization,etc, while allowing the writer's voice to remain clear. Many schools have writing centers that have proofreaders. Check into that at yours. But overall it's best to ask the professor.
