SapphireNoir10
Well, I got my results back from my test today and thank GOD they were all clear ( I was having general health check ups for some problems and I thought, why not have that one?) I was wondering how many people have had one and why or why not would you or wouldnt you? I think its SO important these days. Link to comment
waveseer
Yes, sti tests are part of knowing thyself. Link to comment
SapphireNoir10
I think so too. I could never forgive myself if I infected someone. I use condoms with my boyfriend anyway, but I made a mistake with my ex and I thought it was sensible to check JUST incase. Link to comment
dragon lady
I've had about 5 in the last 365 days alone. That would be paranoia for you. Link to comment
bmwm3
of course every six months... but i dont think wearing a condom when in a rel would go over well with me.... Link to comment
SapphireNoir10
Yep I got mega paranoid too. I will never EVER sleep with someone without a condom again unless im married to them and they have had a STI test. Link to comment
purpleduckie
i got it done but the doc screwed up my test. i hate getting it done. i've been meaning on getting it. i really should, considering one of my ex sleeps around a lot. i will in may. hah. just not a fan of the whole procedure. it's so invasive. quiksand
Here's some info I had the misfortune of learning too late (I have a thread on my situation): Herpes is not included in the regular STI tests. When they say you'll be getting a complete STI screening you're not -- herpes is a different blood test, so you have to specially request it. (And, I've had the misfortune of learning that it can be spread with condom use as well... so the test is worth it.) Link to comment
SapphireNoir10
But worth it! I hated it too. Link to comment
JeckyllNHyde
In the past no, I didn't think it was important. Now I do. Sadly most people only get them once they think they see symptoms. Also, herpes doesn't get checked. But yes, I'd get one. I'd just be so so nervous awaiting the results. Gah. It's almost as bad as waiting for a preg test lol. Link to comment
greywolf
If I was dating a guy, I'd probably get checked all the time. hehe Link to comment
Cognitive_Canine
Nope. Never had one. But, my boyfriend and I were both super virgins (and I mean super virgins) until each other.... But, I should probably have one sometime soon. I can't let my mom know though...she'll just assume I have slept with more people than my bf if she knows. She wouldn't let me get the HPV vaccine because "You (I) don't need it, you're (I'm) not having sex until marriage". Thanks mom. Link to comment
EQD
i've had about 5 or 6 to date since i've been active. Link to comment
Hope75
I've had a full work up several times in my life, the last being about 6 years ago shortly after getting with my husband. Fortunately all were negative. ETA I forgot, they did an HIV test, chlamydia, and gonorrhea tests when I got pregnant too as part of a standard panel and again were all negative. Link to comment
konstantine
I have. I also asked my boyfriend to just for my own satisfaction. I wanted to make sure we were both cool Link to comment
ghost69
what's the difference between choices 'yes i have' and 'yes i would and have'? i just got a clean bill of health. for STDs. not sure if that is different than STIs. they tested for everything. Link to comment
EQD
wait a minute. two options on here are practically the same answer: "yes i have" and "yes i would and have" ghost beat me to it. but i think we should just combine the two totals. Link to comment
SapphireNoir10
Yeah sorry my bad :S Link to comment

drewciouS281
ive had more than afew in my days just to be safe. Havent had one for a while but the last person i slept with before my girlfriend got a full blood test for every STI and came back clear so i assume that means i am. She got tested a couple months later too and still good. Link to comment
COtuner
Condoms are mandatory for me (especially since I cannot tolerate BC pills), but vasectomy in a loving trusting committed MARRIAGE would be acceptable. I still worry though, based on people's past. The older I get, the more aware of how many people are in my bed.... due to being exposed to every woman the guy I'm with has been with. I prefer guys who are divorced and have been in a long term marriage for exactly that reason, or who have not had many partners. I don't consider sex a recreational activity if you're single and bored on a Friday night - call me old fashioned.... Link to comment
dragon lady
I think the pap is too invasive. The blood and urine are fine by me. I just hate the damn pap. Link to comment

Unfortunately, they are hard to come by around my age. I can't tolerate the pill either. Link to comment
philove
I had my first done 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting to hear back on the results :s I took it as a precautionary measure as I am led to believe my ex had a few sexual partners. If I am found to be infected do you think I should tell my ex? Even though she is a lying, cheating **** Link to comment
