Well, I got my results back from my test today and thank GOD they were all clear ( I was having general health check ups for some problems and I thought, why not have that one?)

I was wondering how many people have had one and why or why not would you or wouldnt you?

I think its SO important these days.

Here's some info I had the misfortune of learning too late (I have a thread on my situation): Herpes is not included in the regular STI tests. When they say you'll be getting a complete STI screening you're not -- herpes is a different blood test, so you have to specially request it. (And, I've had the misfortune of learning that it can be spread with condom use as well... so the test is worth it.)

In the past no, I didn't think it was important. Now I do. Sadly most people only get them once they think they see symptoms. Also, herpes doesn't get checked.

But yes, I'd get one. I'd just be so so nervous awaiting the results. Gah. It's almost as bad as waiting for a preg test lol.

Nope. Never had one. But, my boyfriend and I were both super virgins (and I mean super virgins) until each other....

But, I should probably have one sometime soon.

I can't let my mom know though...she'll just assume I have slept with more people than my bf if she knows. She wouldn't let me get the HPV vaccine because "You (I) don't need it, you're (I'm) not having sex until marriage". Thanks mom.

I've had a full work up several times in my life, the last being about 6 years ago shortly after getting with my husband. Fortunately all were negative.

ETA I forgot, they did an HIV test, chlamydia, and gonorrhea tests when I got pregnant too as part of a standard panel and again were all negative.

Condoms are mandatory for me (especially since I cannot tolerate BC pills), but vasectomy in a loving trusting committed MARRIAGE would be acceptable. I still worry though, based on people's past. The older I get, the more aware of how many people are in my bed.... due to being exposed to every woman the guy I'm with has been with. I prefer guys who are divorced and have been in a long term marriage for exactly that reason, or who have not had many partners. I don't consider sex a recreational activity if you're single and bored on a Friday night - call me old fashioned....

I very much want a guy who's had a vasectomy. Unfortunately, they are hard to come by around my age. I can't tolerate the pill either.

I had my first done 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting to hear back on the results :s I took it as a precautionary measure as I am led to believe my ex had a few sexual partners. If I am found to be infected do you think I should tell my ex? Even though she is a lying, cheating ****
