''Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional''

Recommended Posts

I love this newly discovered

quote and hope you'll give it some thought and also enjoy it .

I also created a earlier thread on emotional resiliency below

(such shameless promoting but I thought it a good idea).

Just came accross this saying above (going to make it my first tattoo)

about how encountering pain is one thing but it is the way we deal with it,

work with it, and the CHOICES we make that determine for how long it remains.

I'm tired of my 'woe is me' blues .

I just realized I'm DONE with the blues man...after seeing my ex on sunday after 7 mo away (nc for 6 weeks) I went to hell yesterday...NO MORE....time for some tough love, too....not denying the value of sadness and such but enough is enough, too, to some extent: or at least start to redirect my sorrows into something better.

What is the difference between pain and suffering? Pain is what is brought by life and suffering is us adding fuel to the pain?

yes- it is my understanding thats its just another way of saying that everything is in how we look at it...

we can see a painful situation as a tragedy or we can see it as an opportunity for growth...

at least thats my take- if i'm wrong.. feel free to correct me.

macbeth

act 4: (malcolm to mcduff upon hearing of mcduff's family

slain by macbeth)

''Be this the whetstone of your sword: let grief

Convert to anger; blunt not the heart, enrage it.''

(to me it's about eventually converting some of that

sadness to something outward moving, even using

the anger as an impetus to becoming stronger and

giving the ex 'the finger' for the time being while

you heal.'
