fear of rollercoasters

Recommended Posts

hi everyone..

not sure where to post this but i have a group of friends that always asks me to go on rollar coasters. anyways i couldn't refuse them this time and we are going next weekend.

ive only been once a long time ago (maybe 9 years ago?). i remember i was scared of the height at the very beginning and didn't feel comfortable with the drop. i remember i actually enjoyed it and went again and again but i have not been back since.

now that fear has rebuilt itself and i still let it get to me even though i know i conquered it once.. any tips on how to get over this? only one of my friends knows about my fear and he told me that he ENJOYS the initial drop.. i just remember my stomach feeling weird. i think i am going to fast for the day to ensure i dont vomit lol.

im hoping that now since i am much older i can handle it a lot better.. i feel pathetic posting this lol.

i'm terrified of them, too. but i always push myself and just do it...after the initial drop i have so much fun on them. we start cracking jokes while on the ride. it helps me.

just don't think about it, and scream a lot! it's better to scream than to hold it in. fake it til you make it.

Fasting will probably make you even more sick, having food in your stomach won't hurt. It would only hurt if you've eaten in excess.

Me personally, I've not been on roller coasters in years so I am just not used to the idea anymore... you don't HAVE to like them you know, but I get that you want to go with your friends. I don't think there's much around it except the fact that rides only last a SUPER short period of time... if there's something you really don't want to go on I would just pass on it, no need to torture yourself.

well i guess now that i think of it i don't mind trying it out again but i just have to get over this fear. i think once i get past the fear i will actually like it.

oh man, I used to be PETRIFIED of rollar coasters.... and then I was in the same situation you were.. where I didn't want to seem like a scared kid, so I was like.. okay.. ya, lets go.. ... .. and yea, I was so nervous, but I loosened up and had a good time... I had a LOT of anxiety about it.. but I just pushed it aside, and did it... and I was fine during/after....

I still don't have a problem saying "no" to some rides... they actually do make me sick, and I don't think thats much fun

(the ones that just swing around in a circle.. good lord.... no fun)
