capbit
So I'm going to be heading overseas for the summer and I've started to compile a mental list of what I'll be taking with me. I feel that I may have too many items in my carry-on bag (still under 15lb though). The thing is that there's quite a bit of electronics that will be in my carry-on bag. My laptop, power cord, camera, battery, memory storage/cards, ipod, sync cables, cell phone, chargers, the list goes on. I'll have a four hour layover plus the long flight so I'd like to have these things with me. I haven't been through the airport since 9/11, but I have read their new policies. I just wanted to know if this would be an issue trying to get through security. Will they ask me to take all my items out or have to search through it by hand? It just bothers me when people go through my things. Thanks in advance! Link to comment
hers
Your computer will absolutely have to come out. I traveled this weekend and had my mp3 player, cell phone, and charger all in my purse and i didn't have to take it out. but i know for sure the computer has to come out. can you store anything in your luggage that you're checking? like the chargers and stuff like that? just to make the load lighter i mean? jcrisph
i take that all on my carry on items...lap tops like stated above come out..just pull the lap top out before you get to them so you dont have any problems.. Link to comment
avman
Your bag should be just fine. As others have mentioned you'll have to pull out the laptop to be x-rayed separately. Otherwise everything should go through without a problem. Link to comment
capbit
Great, I can deal with them scanning my laptop seperately, that's understandable. I just like to have my things where I put them and not jumbled around. can you store anything in your luggage that you're checking? like the chargers and stuff like that? just to make the load lighter i mean? I've thought about it, but I need my charger for my laptop and ipod so they wont die immediately when I get on the plane. I would leave my cell phone charger in my checked bag, but if my luggage happens to get lost I'm not sure if I would be able to get find a replacement charger there that would be compatible with my phone. And of course I like to have my camera equipment on me at all times. Link to comment
