IphigeniaSaysHi
My nails are thin and peeling incessantly, my cuticles are rough and often bleeding or painful. (I HATE IT!!!!!) -My hands aren't in water more than average, I have a desk job, and I try my best to moisturize and take care of my hands and nails but NOTHING seems to help. I am going crazy because I would love to have pretty nails but I cannot seem to achieve this. lol I have been thinking about seeing a salon for them, but I really don't want fake nails or to spend a ton of money. Would rather find a solution myself. *I heard polybactirin helps cuticles by removing bacteria *My mom says drinking knox gelatin helps *I hear great things about prenatal vitamins but I am superstitious... haha Other than that I have no ideas. Anyone in the same boat or know of any tips, fixes, etc?? Thanks! Link to comment

CallingAllAngels
Why don't you go to a salon and have them give you a proper manicure and then ask them for suggestions? Link to comment
Isha
flaxseed oil. take it internally and use it topically- best stuff ever. contains lignans which fight bacteria and fungi, and contains enough essential fatty acids to give nourishment to broken or irritated cuticles. i use it often and have really soft skin and hair. tbone22
Are you anemic? sometimes when your irons low your nails become more thin and brittle... I think vitamin supplements would do the trick! Link to comment
IphigeniaSaysHi
Have you tried nail hardener polish? I currently use Sally Hanson's Hard as Nails in Clear. I mostly buff my nails in one direction to keep them from getting ratty (never works) then I rub in cuticle cream. Bah. Link to comment

IphigeniaSaysHi
Also the thyroid gland. It affects both nails and hair. Ya know? I have every sign of thyroid conditions but I get tested constantly and nothing seems to be wrong. Ever since I was about 16. I do have PCOS so my system is messed up. Link to comment
