Sadly Mistaken
I started a new job 2 weeks ago in a field i've never worked in before and am having trouble remembering everything and the correct procedure when doing some tasks. Normally i wouldn't expect myself to know everything at once, but my job is relatively important when it comes to getting correct facts and would affect the rest of the business if done incorrectly. I don't want to ask too many questions and seem like an idiot, but at the same time if i get it wrong it won't be good. Should i ask for more help, or is it too soon for them to expect me to know it all and give myself time and not stress? Link to comment
lavenderdove
I think it is far better to be honest and ask for more training than it is to keep screwing up and have them wonder what is wrong. Most companies expect there to be a training period where you will make mistakes, and appreciate someone who shows initiative to try to learn their job the best way possible. Perhaps if it is complicated, could you write down what they are saying when they are training you and create little cards to read to help you remember? Link to comment
shes2smart
It's only been two weeks, you *should* be asking questions. Heck, after only two weeks at a new job, I figure you're doing fine if you can find the restroom without asking for directions. Link to comment
avman
Absolutely ask questions. They would expect someone brand new to be asking lots of questions about how things work there. If you don't ask them and just mess up a lot that will look bad. Many companies with complex procedures don't expect a new employee to be completely oriented for up to 6 months. Link to comment

ConfusedDater
I remember when I started in a new fiekd years ago I would ask my co-worker questions in the next cubicle all the time and she started getting attitude and said-"they don't pay me to train" I wanted to avoid asking my supervisor a lot of questions. But I received no training at all which is why I was so confused Link to comment
Sadly Mistaken
Yeah there was training its just i don't want to have to keep asking, but i guess i just expect to much to soon. I haven't made any bad mistakes yet, and i've noticed if i have someone is coming along and correcting them. I think i was just mentally freaking out for awhile. Its just feels i'm always asking the same questions, and out of 5 things they tell me only 2 stick in my head and i actually remember. Link to comment
avman
Write them down if you have to once you have the answers. Make yourself a little cheat sheet that you can refer to. Link to comment
