Dental Assisting?

Recommended Posts

My current major is pre-radiography. I am about to finish my sophomore year at community college and then i will transfer to university for another 2 years.

BUT.. i am so confused.

I really have no passion for radiography. And right now I am really disliking school.

My community college offers a dental assisting program.. and this actually sounds interesting to me. It will only take me about 1 1/2 more years of school. (Too bad i've already taken at least 45 hours of credits I didn't need!)

If I had started this program when I first started college I would be graduating in ONE MONTH! AH! That frustrates me really bad..

My question is.. Do you all think it would be a good idea to change my major?

I know Dental Assistants get paid less than X-ray technicians or ultrasound technicians, but right now I just don't feel like I want that.

I want something that excites me, and that I can get done quickly and get to work!

Any advice???

My advice: do what you love...you don't want to be stuck in a career that you're not passionate about.

I'm 22 and if I had just gone with something, anything, I'd be graduating with a bachelor's this spring. But, because I've switched my major 934 times... I still have a ways to go...but I think it's important to do something that I care about, even if it means being in school for a little while longer.

Oh that's tough, I think you should should stick it out and then go back for the other major, rather than switch. That way you've finished something, can possibly work while completing a degree you'll love. This is coming from someone who has switched a zillion times herself. You're so close if you realize it's only temporary it'll make it easier.

What were your majors before? What is your current major?

You went to college all this time to quit 1 month before you graduate.. come on...finish what you start so you have another source of income in case you do decide to choose another career. You worked to long and hard to stop now...that's ridiculous...dental assisting is a low paying job....if your going to go to college might as well go for the gold !

Good luck in your career.

No need to be rude over a misunderstanding since I was very tired when I read your post. I was trying to give you a compliment, but perhaps you didn't get that part. You should be a bit more thoughtful when someone takes their time to read your post. Good luck to you in the future!

actually i wasnt being rude. and maybe you shouldn't comment on other posts if you are so tired..

because the first comment you left kind of came off as rude... you said. "come on" and "thats ridiculous"

and also, you commented that my career choice was a "low paying job"

i stated in my original post that i knew the money wasnt as good as my original major (which i have no passion for)

sorry but i think thats rude

Sorry I took the time to respond to your post..I won't waste my time in the future. If you don't like the responses then perhaps you shouldn't post anything. I am giving you my honest opinion and if you don't like it then I cannot help it. For goodness sakes you cannot take a compliment, constructive critizism, and apology..grow up!
