Grapefruit
I totally bombed an interview at work today and I feel horrible about it. I just don't know if I should keep feeling like crap or what. I put in for the position that opened up about two months ago and heard nothing from them. So I went on and transfered into another department since there was an opening. So now I float between the three departments. Well I went into work today and 15 - 20 minutes into my shift I am told that in 2 minutes I need to go and have my interview since they are doing them today. I was extremely nervous and not ready for it at all, so of course I bombed it. Egh, I just feel so stupid because it was a standard interview and it was nothing compared to my last job. >. Raistlin
Being unemployed for over 3 months, I've bombed plenty of them recently. It's easy to stumble over the simplest questions when unprepared. However, you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. It was just an interview, and something to keep in mind is that we're always our hardest critics. I'm sure you did great, even if it doesn't feel like it. Link to comment
JustBeachy
I've been unemployed for almost a year and have been on 50+ interviews. Don't get down now because you haven't seen anything yet. You have to stay positive and you have to keep your head up, especially in an economy like we have today. Blow it off and move on, it's pretty much your only option. Read books too. I've read 60 Seconds and You're Hired by Robin Ryan and Knock Em Dead 2009 by Martin Yate. Tons of useful info in both books that will definitely help you in the job market and the interview process. yeawutever
I'm never really prepared for interviews but for strange reasons I never really bombed them, I wondered why...... Oh well don't worry about it, think of them as dumb questions asked for grade schoolers and then you won't get nervous anymore. Link to comment
Grapefruit
Thanks ^_^ I just feel so stupid. My last job they had about a thousand people applying a month and only hired less than 1%. We went through three sit down interviews, one over the phone, a background check and a 4 hour test on our computer, speaking, listening and general skills and I had no problem with that. However, I knew when I was going in and such. This one I didnt....which I think was my problem. Grapefruit Link to comment
JadedStar
It was also their fault for giving you no notice. I would never give an internal candidate same day notice for an interview. They should have told you at LEAST a day in advance so you could have dressed appropriately for it and gotten your bearings straight. I am assuming you went into work today not knowing the interview would be today? Link to comment
Grapefruit
Yep. I went into work and 15 - 20 minutes later I was told to head up because I was being interviewed. No notice at all. Grapefruit Link to comment

Grapefruit That really was not professional on their part. I'd never due that to an internal candidate. Just becuase they already work there doesn't mean they do not deserve professional courtesy.
