redrose85
I have been counting calories this month, and had been doing really well at breaking old patterns (eating when bored, emotional, etc...) I guess with all the stress of the final weeks of the semester, I slipped back into my old ways on Friday and Saturday this week. Where I had normally been eating 1000-1200 cals, I ate 2200 cals each day! I feel so bad, like I ruined the progress I had been making. Today I am really going to watch it! I guess now I need an extra workout too... sigh. Link to comment
rivercitystein
Don't be so hard on yourself. You've been doing an amazing job Link to comment
hulk7280
its prolly actually a good thing that u did that to help boost ur metabolism.. when u keep eating the same amount of cals everyday ur body sometimes stalls.. u supress a lot of fat burning hormones when u diet and one way to raise them is by havign higher calorie days.. i would have at least one day a week were u eat a bit more then usual.. Daligal83
You're human, it's ok to slip up here and there. Each day is a new day and just start fresh. Two days of bad choices does not negate all the positive progress you've made, so just keep going. I had Wendy's last night at like 9PM, which was not a great choice at all. But I'm not going to let it get me down or stop my progress because that just won't help at all. Link to comment
JustBeachy
It's good to have "cheat" days. I'm a health freak, but I cheat on Saturdays and Sundays. I eat what I want and drink what I want. The reason for that is similar to what Hulk said. You don't want your body to stall or hit a plateau. You're human, so you will break your diet sometimes. Just blow it off and get back on the horse and ride again. Link to comment
COtuner
It's ok, you didn't do too much damage. I always eat more during PMS because I get extremely hungry. It freaks me out, but then I do so well the other 3 weeks of the month that it all evens out. What's more important than the calories is to watch what you eat. If you're going to binge, eat healthy snacks, not pizza, burgers, swansen dinners or whatever. Keep organic granola, fresh fruit, PB and veggies, dark chocolate and stuff like that that's great stress food (carbs!) but not too destructive. I like raw nuts, too (almonds, brazil nuts, walnuts). Lots of calories, but your body deals with them surprisingly well if they aren't covered in oil and salt. Link to comment
redrose85
You are all awesomeeee! I feel so much better now I'm heading out now to go for a jog in the sunshine. Link to comment
dragon lady
Oh man, I know how you feel. I just downed a bag of corn chips, a large sprite and some fancy chocolates. I've been eating like a pig lately and it's starting to show. I'll have to get back on track now that a bunch of stressful events are over with. Link to comment
jengh
Aww, I know what you mean. I've been told to have one "Cheat" day a week. Well, last night was mine, I had pizza I'm so ashamed of myself. I can't even run it off today because it's snowing It's okay though--each day is a NEW day! Link to comment

Do 5 sets of this routine: 25 squat jumps, 25 jumping jacks, 25 high knee lifts, 25 seconds running in place, 25 quick jumps. Do those back to back 5 times and you'll def feel a great cardio workout. redrose85
I feel lucky that it's sunny and gorgeous out today! We had a mega windstorm last night, but it brought in spring-like weather. Cairo, don't let weather stop you, do whatever you can indoors. Heck, go play in the snow. I jogged the long way down to my gym (about 15 mins) went on the bike at the gym for another 15 minutes, did a load of core work, then jogged home. Whew! tomorrow if I'm not too busy, I am going to go back to this kick boxing class I tried last week. Mixing it up makes it way easier to stay on track. Link to comment
Daligal83
Classes at the gym are a great way to stay motivated. Especially if you meet people there. There's a core group of regulars in my spinning class. If one of us isn't there, we're all wondering if they are OK. My one friend will actually contact me the next day if she doesn't know why I'm not in class haha. Link to comment
JustBeachy
What's a squat jump and a quick jump? Jumping up and down? Squat jump: link removed You can lunge in place as well. Quick jumps are hard to explain. Basically, stand up, put both arms straight up over your head, and bounce up and down as fast as you can on your tip toes for 25 seconds. Do all of those exercises in one circuit, rest for 1-2 min and do it all over again. Let me know what you think! Link to comment
Alezia
You realize that for most people between 1800-2200 calories is maintenance. If you gained something, it is very minimal. The important part is that you didn't let it go on for weeks and that you jumped back to eating healthier! I think that oftentimes, we look at the numbers too seriously and forget the big picture. "Oh no! I've maintained my weight, I'm such a horrible person." I think we need to poke fun at ourselves once in a while All you guys posts is making me consider jumping on the bandwagon again! I have a lot of social activities coming up so nothing too restrictive like phase 1 south beach haha! Link to comment
redrose85
Oh I know that, but I don't want to maintain a weight that isn't optimal for me... I want to lose weight and then maintain that. Link to comment
Alezia
Yeah =) But having a two day vacation isn't that bad considering you're starting again and will continue to lose! Go rose! Link to comment
Sky-Cherries
This'll make you feel better. After losing 18 kilos since last October, I ate an ENTIRE family-sized bag of Malteasers the other day, because my father said he hasn't noticed any change in my weight from when I was 9 months pregnant. The pregnancy that occurred over two years ago. Just keep your hopes up that you're doing better than me. Link to comment
redrose85
Sky! Be nice to yourself. Gosh I should take my own advice eh? Hahaha Emotional eating is SUCH a huge hurdle to get over, but it's so much better not feeling that guilt all the time. I ate way too much ice cream last night (stressed out and exhausted) and I am bloated as heck today. I'm certainly paying for it. Link to comment
Alezia
Oh that's totally my weak point. With boredom - though boredom happens more often and is even less excusable It's strange that I can pass up desert and treats let's say at a conference I'm attending, traveling, having supper else where but it's so much harder for me to pass it up if I'm at home on the computer and reading ENotAlone. Which obviously I do ALL the time =) Link to comment
