volpe
I met this guy at a cafe yesterday, sitting accross from me... we got into a couple of conversations, probably talked for a couple of hours, about all sorts of things, including his parents, our work in hospitals, patients, it was a really good conversation, and I could tell that we connected. He did not bring up a girlfriend or anything, but he did not ask me to meet up again. Which is kind of weird, because I could tell... we were enjoying each other. He gave me his name and I know what school he studies in, so it was very easy for me to find him on Facebook. I chickened out when I left about giving my contact info or suggesting anything. Is it creepy if I sent him a message on Facebook? I might run into him again, since he told me he lives accross from this cafe where we met... but who knows when? Link to comment
Honey Pumpkin
Well, I would try hanging out in that cafe again next week a couple of times, and see if you bumped into him first! How did you leave it when you said goodbye? Did he say "see you around?" Did it seem like he was trying to find the courage to ask for your number/email? Link to comment
COtuner
Depends on Facebook etiquette, I guess. I don't use it, myself so I don't know how common it is to do that. Facebook aside, it seems reasonable to want to talk to him again. I usually chicken out of those situations because I take things at face value - it was an "at the moment" thing, like standing in line at Disney World or whatever. Follow your gut, is what I'd say. If you really liked him, send an innocent hello and ask him to coffee again. I mean, the worst that could happen is he says no, or has a GF, right? Link to comment
volpe
Well... during the middle of the conversation, he introduced himself and shook my hand... he expressed that I'm a really interesting person and open and I could tell that he was enjoying talking to me because he kept initiating conversation, we shared a lot of smiles (flirtatious smiles, definitely!). As I was leaving, he shook my hand and said "I'll see you around..." so... I was a little disappointed about that... figured maybe he has a girlfriend... Link to comment

I don't know if he was trying to find the courage or not... I know that I was, and I'm sure that I hid it... Link to comment
COtuner
He made body contact... that's a good sign, IMO, instead of just waving or saying "see ya" Link to comment

COtuner
Cool - good luck!!!!! If you can mention something from last time to bring back that connection, that's good. Or ask if you can sit with him? Link to comment

volpe
Still sitting at the cafe with him. OMG, he is sooooooo cute!! And we sat here figuring out neurology and talking about bacteria and fungus together. I still don't know if he has a GF though, I haven't asked and he didn't say anything. Shared a chocolate chip cookie with him. Link to comment

Mention a film/exhibition something that you can both like and then can go and see together - The Boat That Rocked opens next weekend, but maybe a bit girly... Good luck!!! Link to comment

This is hilarious, he just said "We should be Facebook friends!" and I added him... he is still sitting accross from me. He is so cool, interesting, and smart! And so cute! I am trying to keep my composure and keep from just grinning real big! Link to comment
COtuner
Come on now... ask him to go to something. There has to be something - free concert, art exhibit, used bookstore.... is it close to dinnertime yet? That could be a good segue Link to comment
volpe
... Yeah... I'm a big chicken!! ](*,) But it's o.k.... he added me as a friend and now we can easily do something another time... we talked for another couple of hours today, **really** good conversation, very easy going, I like him a lot and he is **single**. I can't believe that I've met a handsome, motivated, educated man with philosophical ideas so similar to my own!! And he loves to cook... I'm wondering what the catch is? We'll see! Link to comment
COtuner
I'm psyched for you - what a nice story for ENA and so many people on here who dream of having an encounter like yours. Wherever it goes from here, you know there's always a chance of meeting someone great in the least likely places Link to comment
