ariyadhana
According to my tread mill, which has a pulse monitor, my resting heart rate is between 108-110. When I exercise it goes down to 80-90. Should I be worried that my resting heart rate is over 100? I've read that it should be between 60-100? Also, is it even possible for my heart rate to reduce when on the tread mill? I don't see how exercise can decrease, rather than increase my pulse. Link to comment
melrich
That sounds unusual. You heart rate should go up when you exercise and yes a resting pulse over 100 is very high. Are you sure the machine is working right? Link to comment
Sparkly Eyes
yeah, definitely something is wrong with the machine! I actually have no doubt. unless you are not a human being your heart rate is not gonna decrease during exercise. And a normal heart rate while resting is around 75 for women I guess. Link to comment
Applewhite
Or the machine could be wrong. Sometimes they are not accurate. Also when you don't get a good grip on them they do that. Link to comment
Odysseus
Yes. Check your heart rate with your watch...basically take your own pulse at the wrist or neck. Something is whack. Link to comment
ghost69
don't listen to the treadmill. test it yourself. i doubt it's a 100. Link to comment
ariyadhana
Maybe I wasn't gripping hard enough yesterday when I was getting the reading of 80 while exercising. But today I am still getting 108-114 when I grip on for a resting pulse, and I just checked my pulse with my finger and I'm got 114. Link to comment

PixelPusher
Even gripping differently, the built-in heart rate monitors on those machines are never, ever accurate. If you want accurate, either test your own pulse (finger on vein and counting) or buy a good heart rate monitor that straps to your chest. Link to comment
sarey
Take your pulse on your wrist or lightly on your neck, count for 15 seconds, x 4 = your heart rate. Normal is between 60-90. Link to comment
