I see all these people that think its ok to treat other ppl as badly as they want to because no one knows who they are. I like to play video games but for me it almost seems worthless because its just filled with people all over that are just bratty, annoying, ignorant little kids or sadly adults. I cant have any type of conversation without hearing racist remarks, constant negativity, and basically anything bad you can think of. It can come from rape, death, violence or anything basically not meaning anything. Its all insensitivity at its worst. I know you cant change it because thats how people are but i think its sad that people think its ok to be like this. I am not the almighty powerful person to be talking or deciding how people will act but im like come on at least their has to be something that can be considered too low. Its like people have all these hidden agendas and they all come out in the privacy of their own home. I dont really see any solution because i still like to play games and try to stay away from that as much as possible but there doesnt seem to be any end. Im not even that old but ive never thought of acting like that or even consider it. As far as i know alot of places dont have any type of policy and even when you bring up that policy then you get all this freedom of speech or im allowed to do what i want to do type of stuff. Its just sad because stuff like that i really wonder why there is a place for it in this world. Its just i could get into all types of stuff that just makes no sense why there is a place for it but then im just being an idealist. Its just thats not how things always work and it usually takes alot for anything to really work in the sense of it being something that doesnt come off as just a bad example of human nature. I try to balance out my idealism with realistic or rational thoughts but i just get a problem when i wish there was a way things could be better. It sucks because i feel like something like video games or the internet are really great things but then when it comes to how people interact with each other it just makes it sometimes too negative. I guess im always going to have a problem with this its just ill get angry because these people really push your buttons and the sad thing is they actually want a reaction so you lose either way. I just keep on thinking about how i wish their was a way that this wouldnt happen or that there was an alternative but it just sucks that this is really how it is. Link to comment

I like them too, but I ditched my headset after hearing all the garbage people would talk about. But that's why there are friends lists. The internet is a place to slander others anonymously. Like those tough kids in the playgrounds picking on someone else. He almost always has someone with him to back him up/use as a human shield. I know it sucks but not everyone is like that. And there's nothing you can do about the ones who are. They'll eventually slip up if they're online a lot and speaking this way. And they'll get themselves into a lot of trouble. Link to comment

Otherwise, I'm with you 100%. Most of this comes from the little brats who are between the ages of 10 and 20 who have nothing better to do with their time except listen to music with ridiculous lyrics and symbolism, watch porn, get into trouble at school, and post horrible comments on the internet because they know they can get away with it--most of which is a direct product of their upbringing. It reminds me of the jock clique we all see around school. I say "jock clique", but I really mean anyone who has a derogatory personality who wears cloths half off their bumb and who most of the time, has connections to people who do drugs. Personally, I feel all of them are derelicts and need to be excessively disciplined to the point where blood begins to surface. Just imagine how bad it's going to be when they start being the majority of this country (if we're speaking of the US, of course). I hate them all. Link to comment

As a female gamer, I get harassed quite often playing online. I'm pretty thick-skinned so much doesn't bother me, but if it becomes annoying I just use the almighty mute button to shut them up or play with people on my friends list. It is very discouraging though to see how disgusting some people are. I once had a guy describe in detail all the horrible things he would do to me if we met in person, then he told me where he lived and it was pretty close to me. I say "jock clique", but I really mean anyone who has a derogatory personality who wears cloths half off their bumb and who most of the time, has connections to people who do drugs.. is this a fair statement? i realize it's just an example...but it's stereotyping nonetheless. i have some great friends who never walk around with less than half their asses showing. they're not bad people. they're decent. they're healthy. they contribute to society. they're not junkies. there just seems to be a tendency to pidgeon-hole every person we encounter. obviously...the stereotype has to fit at some point...otherwise there wouldn't be a stereotype...but it seems like the foundation for these things tends to be a little on the shallow side. i mean...what are we really basing our perceptions on? mr me Posted March 19, 2009 Author Share Posted March 19, 2009 I just have a problem as an idealist and also as a person that likes to treat everyone like a person. Its hard because i cant see myself treating any of them with respect or any courtesy because they dont use any of that. I think for me its also hard because i kinda understand the psychology of someone like that who usually just grows up in a bad household. Everyone usually has a reason why they are the way they are but its like then what. I just feel like sometimes its hard to really know what to do with people that are really just indifferent to anything around them. I cant say i can really relate with them but i just wouldnt want to put anyone down. I think that just makes the problem worse but at the same time if someone is really gettin on your nerves its hard to control yourself. Link to comment
