thebunny21
Has this ever happened to somebody? I have been having, at some points, extreme pains in the lower right quadrant of my abdomen. It's been happening for a few months now and the last time I went to the OB/GYN, my doctor checked my ovaries for cysts. I don't have any. These pains happen after I do anything strenuous. But, I also have pain when I stretch or lay down completely flat. I can't find anything else that it could possible be and I want to have an ideas before I spend money at the doctor's office that I don't have. Link to comment
metrogirl
Lower right side usually indicates appendicitis but I don't think it would linger off and on for months. When I had appendicitis, I had pain for 2 days before I wound up in surgery having it removed. Link to comment
annie24
i had something sort of similar - but i'd get the pains after eating fatty food. i was overweight, and after eating a fatty meal, i would get pains. that was my wakeup call to lose weight and eat better. but you said it's strenuous activity.... i dunno.... thebunny21
Yea, the last time I was having this pain my doctor thought it was appendicitis, went to the hospital, ended up being a cyst on my ovary. But, I can't even think that it's a cyst, but I was just recently checked. Link to comment

I'm not a heavy girl, and I have to admit, I've been eating very poorly since I lost my job. But, because it's been happening whenever and after those points I made in my original post, I don't think it's because of the food I eat. Link to comment
annie24
i wasn't a massively heavy girl either - just about 15 lbs overweight. definitely try to improve your diet, eat more fruits and vegetables. i don't know - i just know that it made the pain in my lower right abdomen go away. Link to comment
metrogirl
Annie has a good point. Certain foods after time can wreack havoc on your system. Has the doctor ever checked your pancreas? Link to comment
thebunny21
No. Right now, I'm trying to figure out something it could possibly be. Doctor appts are expensive. I want to at least have some idea what it could possible be. Link to comment
metrogirl
No. Right now, I'm trying to figure out something it could possibly be. Doctor appts are expensive. I want to at least have some idea what it could possible be. There could be a 100 different things that it could be. I realize doctor visits can be costly, but you certainly shouldn't put it off. It could be something serious. Have you looked into low cost clinics in your area? Link to comment

free2Bme
I had abdominal pains, and it took me 3 visits to the docs: 1st time they said it was probably trapped wind 2nd time they had a poke around, couldn't feel anything, gave me some pain killers. 3rd time, still couldn't feel anything, but decided I should have an ultrasound. Turned out I had an ovarian cyst the size of a cooking apple that needed to be removed, and the reason the doctor couldn't feel it is because it was big, they couldn't justfeel a small round lump. So, yeah, I'd say you should go back to the docs and see if you can get an ultrasound. Link to comment
Tethys
Yes, if you are having pains in your ovaries (or about that area) get an ultrasound. ETA: If you can, of course! I know not everyone has the luxury of health insurance. Link to comment
thebunny21
It's not even the low cost offices, I have insurance, but the problem is, my copays are $40 bucks a pop. I don't have a job or any type of money flow. I don't have help from my mom. I would love to go, absolutely. I was supposed to get an ultrasound a few weeks ago, but we had a massive snow storm. Hey bunny - Since it can be so many things, I think you should try to get an ultrasound. I had the same pain as well, right over the ovary but my low-cost clinic told me it was something it wasn't. Which is why I encourage you to press for an ultrasound in order to solve that mystery. Pain over that area could mean lots of different thing but you need to get it checked out, esp if you have health insurance. $40 is a small price to pay.. Link to comment
ghost69
too many possibilities. maybe you need another opinion from another doctor. Link to comment
Tethys
No no, it is a so-called "woman problem" for sure, by the pain you described. That's why an ultrasound is necessary to get to the bottom of it. Link to comment
redrose85
"i had something sort of similar - but i'd get the pains after eating fatty food. i was overweight, and after eating a fatty meal, i would get pains. that was my wakeup call to lose weight and eat better. " I had the same thing happen to me that annie experienced! They were saying it could be gallstones, so I had an ultrasound done. They didn't find anything, but I continued to have mild pains for a few weeks after the initial problem. Doctor gave me some acid blockers, but I haven't been taking them. I've cut way down on portion sizes and what types of food I eat (went out for wings and came home in pain versus ate a bowl of yogurt with strawberries and felt great). I came to the conclusion that my body can't process deep fried fatty foods anymore, and that's really okay lol. It cuts the temptation right down. Try to change your diet around a bit (avoid fatty foods) and see if that helps. If not, look into getting an ultrasound because it could be something to do with your ovaries. Link to comment
