OMG I LOVE THAT PLACE!

It is extraordinary. I agree iwth avman get the lettuce wraps! and they have this ahi tuna with angel hair and green leaf tea.....it is awesome. I never knew green tea leaves chopped so finely and used to season were so light and refreshing.

I highly recommend but it is pricier than most asian cuisine restaraunts.

If you like PF Chang's and want to save a little money look for Pei Wei -- it's owned by PF Chang's -- has a more limited menu, food's the same, smaller (reasonable sized) portions, smaller prices.

You order at a counter and get your own drink, but still have table service for your food.

And they have the lettuce wraps.

Someone else mentioned Melting Pot. It's very expensive if you do your entire dinner there....and it also takes 2-3 hours if you're doing the whole thing -- salad, cheese fondue, entree and dessert. Reservations are generally recommended for high-peak times (friday/saturday nights, holidays) or unless your local Melting Pot is large

I've found that Melting Pot is better as a dessert place. Generally, you're going after the dinner rush and they have a variety of different chocolate fondues very reasonably priced (around $20 for 2 people if you don't order drinks) and you can be in & out in about an hour if you're just doing dessert.

Great to hear! About how much would a dinner for 2, including drinks cost?

(I always thought it was more of a place for larger groups of people, celebrating birthdays and things like that.)

if you're drinking alcohol expect to spend about $80-100. No alcohol, bout $50ish..

Yeah that sounds about right. Dinner for 2 runs $50-$60. Drinks would be on top of that so if you drink several rounds it could be close to $100.

It's hardly upscale, is a chain, and frequently has tables of families with screaming kids or office groups out for happy hour.

Would NOT impress me in the slightest. In fact, you'd lose points.

So you'd only be impressed by a more expensive restaurant with no kids or people that work in an office that are with other people that work in an office?

It is a very upscale place where I live. Maybe the one you are frequenting is in a bad part of town. As for screaming kids, last i checked most places allow families to eat regardless of the 'scale'. And most of your higher end places encourage office groups for happy hour, so none of this makes a lot of sense in the explanation of whether it is upscale or not. No matter the 'scale' these places ALL have to make money and they can't do that by turning away very good business. Not in tihs economy.

It is a chain, but there are 'uspcale chains' and then there are lower grade chains, but as chains go it IS on the higher end. That isn't even debatable since if you compare it to all chains out there, it simply is on the higher end.

As for the quality of the food, it is in the 'mouth' of the beholder. Just because a few of you don't like it doesn't mean that a LOT of people don't like it a lot. It stays very busy so that would suggest that many DO think it is great. For people who are not usually all that enthralled with more typical chinese cuisine it is actually BETTER. I have never been a huge fan so excuse some of us for liking the way they 'bastrdize' the food.

It is very much an upscale chinese restaurant. I agree it's not a formal restaurant but that's not what I mean by upscale. Sorry you aren't impressed but I happen to think it's a very nice place. I've never seen a bunch of screaming kids at a PF Changs.
