Instead of putting all of your energy into wishing on that one thing...

try wishing for something else.

 

Pretty soon that other wish won't be so strong in your mind.

 

And you'll think "Instead of hoping/wishing this, I'm going to DO this other thing"

 

Wishing is cute but is a waste of time. Kind of like wishing on a star or throwing a coin in a well. It's all internal to you.

I'm only aware of your hoping because you posted about it.

Do something constructive to take your mind off wishing. Hang out with friends and family, go for a walk, see a movie, go to the gym, journal, read a good book, read other people's posts here - the sky's the limit. It does get easier. I made a list of "pros" and "cons" about the person (the "cons" side was much longer) and took it out and read it every time I felt my resolve weakening. Good luck.
