shy2cool Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I am semi-interested in going along to a singles party being organised by one of the big online dating sites over here. The age range is 21-39, so I don't know really. My only other option so far is to head out on the town with a group of singles. I am not expecting the world, but a fun evening out. I don't want to be staying home on the night of Valentines!!!
lost1607307474 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I've heard those singles parties are hella crazy and so much fun. Drunken fun, my friends report.
dr_styles Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Drunken fun, my friends report. meh, count me out then
lost1607307474 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 meh, count me out then I know right? My friend went to one of these singles parties last year, run by an online dating site, and she said most people there were quite disgracefully drunk. She however, was a little more responsible and managed to meet some nice people and quite enjoy herself.

lost1607307474 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I say you should go to one! Chances are you'll have fun, and it beats being miserable at home.
shy2cool Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 Yeah, should be a no-brainer but all my guy friends are either in relationships or not interested in going out. I am kinda apprehensive about going on my own!
CrazyKing Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I guess it's a great place for meeting new people, I mean the singles party, but I don't get why are you asking others about whether going to that party or not?

annie24 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 just go, try to have fun. and if you don't have fun, you can always go home!
KG Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Try it out. What do you have to lose? You can always leave.
lady00 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 It sounds like fun, minus the everyone getting wasted part of it. I mean, how can you really get to know people if people are that drunk? I'm all for a little alcohol but if I'm in the mood to mingle and meet new people, I'd want to keep it to a minimum so as to make a good impression (and remember who I met!).
Crazyaboutdogs Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Check it out and see...view it as an outing, but don't go with the hopes of meeting someone...if you do you do, if not, well have fun anyway.
shy2cool Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 Thanks for all the replies!! I am still scared about going on my own, argh!!!
lost1607307474 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Thanks for all the replies!! I am still scared about going on my own, argh!!! I wouldn't be, I bet a lot of people there would have gone on their own! It might even be better than going with friends because it will give you a chance to meet new people.
annie24 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Thanks for all the replies!! I am still scared about going on my own, argh!!! hey - don't be! it will be ok. and you know what - if you are having an awful time and are bored and everyone is stuck up, just leave and go home, watch a movie. worst case scenario.
Luke Skywalker Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 I was seriously thinking of this myself. But I'm a Christian and don't involve myself into dancing or worldy stuff like that as it's contrary to family values in here...but if I were in your shoes I'd try it out. As annie24 says, you are always free to go home if it doesn't work out. Give it about 15-30 minutes, if you have fun, give it another 30 minutes, etc... otherwise, just go home.
