Singles Party for Valentine's Day?

I am semi-interested in going along to a singles party being organised by one of the big online dating sites over here. The age range is 21-39, so I don't know really.

My only other option so far is to head out on the town with a group of singles.

I am not expecting the world, but a fun evening out. I don't want to be staying home on the night of Valentines!!!

meh, count me out then

I know right? My friend went to one of these singles parties last year, run by an online dating site, and she said most people there were quite disgracefully drunk. She however, was a little more responsible and managed to meet some nice people and quite enjoy herself.

That's what I want to do.

I'm a professional and wish to meet other similar kinds of people.

Yeah, should be a no-brainer but all my guy friends are either in relationships or not interested in going out.

I am kinda apprehensive about going on my own!

Well kinda shows I don't drink or party ... it's no wonder I'm on eNA

It sounds like fun, minus the everyone getting wasted part of it. I mean, how can you really get to know people if people are that drunk? I'm all for a little alcohol but if I'm in the mood to mingle and meet new people, I'd want to keep it to a minimum so as to make a good impression (and remember who I met!).

Thanks for all the replies!!

I am still scared about going on my own, argh!!!

I wouldn't be, I bet a lot of people there would have gone on their own! It might even be better than going with friends because it will give you a chance to meet new people.

hey - don't be! it will be ok. and you know what - if you are having an awful time and are bored and everyone is stuck up, just leave and go home, watch a movie. worst case scenario.

I was seriously thinking of this myself. But I'm a Christian and don't involve myself into dancing or worldy stuff like that as it's contrary to family values in here...but if I were in your shoes I'd try it out. As annie24 says, you are always free to go home if it doesn't work out. Give it about 15-30 minutes, if you have fun, give it another 30 minutes, etc... otherwise, just go home.
