SaSaRai Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 i'm looking for a way to advertise for a new business that i'm working on. i'd like to start out advertising locally, but i'm not sure the best way to go about doing so.
hers Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 try advertising on Craigslist in whatever section applies to your business (I advertise for my pet sitting business in the Pets section). Also look into getting a website designed for your services and check out Google AdWords--it allows you to type in all sorts of keywords that will have your site pop up when it's typed into Google (for example, I'm in Atlanta, so someone could look up "Atlanta pet sitters" and my site will come up b/c I have that keyword checked). It's pay per click but it's not too expensive each click, and you can cap it to spend no more than say, $75 a month or something.
gidget1 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 What kind of business is it? It's good to do a write up for a local paper (a press release) which the paper may or may not choose to advertise for free. Ask your local papers... Also, the internet is a great way to advertise. I have lots of ideas but it helps knowing what kind of business it is..
beejcee Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 i created a quick and easy business web site for a minimal price on link removed for my mother-in-law's pet care business. also, there are sites on the web that will make free business cards (you pay the postage). another idea, our local grocery stores have community bulletin boards -- these are totally free advertising, too. good luck!
blgbird Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 posters direct mail (might be expensive) bulletin boards do something to give back to your community (might get some free pub. out of it) friends and family craigs list message boards related to your specific business enlist key words through search engines encourage your customers to write reviews online (make sure it's your best customers) Newspaper ads College/highschool newspaper ads (usually overlooked) radio/even local tv ads if your business can afford it, they're not too bad fliers yellow pages (print/online) partnership with other complementary small businesses without knowing your business it's hard to help you out,but it all depends on what kind of business you have, budget, what kind of customers you're trying to reach and how much business you can handle hope this helps, but it's just a starting point. you can be a lot more creative
JeckyllNHyde Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I think local papers is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to go along with craiglist. Bulletin boards too. And places you know your client category will be sure to hear it from. Let's say you sell office supplies--> find ways to advertise by giving out flyers to offices. And also try word of mouth advertising by telling friends and family who can recommend you to their business managers or other friends.
