ATLstudent Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 At what age did you start noticing lines in your skin, beginnings of crows feet and laugh lines. I am 23 and I can clearly see where my crows feet are although the lines are faint, there are defined in the skin already. When did u start noticing signs of aging heres a pic link removed
lisa1126 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Are you squinting your eyes? Because if you are, one will definitely see the pronounced lines like what you have on your picture. But, generally, I heard that once past mid 20's skin starts to age. So you are in your early 20's, so your skin is going to be gradually aging. In order to retard the aging process, you can use moisturizer on your skin, and maybe even eye creme around your eyes.
gidget1 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 it's different for everyone. i'd say between 20 and 30 depending on your lifestyle. alcohol, smoking, food, the sun, everything affects your skin.
Sn0man Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I noticed my first few wrinkles when I was about 20. I'd think most people start to sport a few wrinkles around this time.
purpleduckie Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 im 20 and i noticed my forehead is sorta wrinkly def going to have to improve my diet.. my aunt is 60 but she seriously looks 30. when she was 50, she looked 20. it's ridiculous! good genes and an amazing diet.
beejcee Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 hi -- i am 47 years old and was recently carded in a bar. i'm not trying to brag but i will share my secret: avoid the sun! my skin had only one wrinkle on the forehead. i attribute it to always protecting my face from the sun. i always wear sunglasses, sunscreen, and try to stay in the shade. my friends laughed at me when i was a teenager and young adult. i would go to the beach with them and sit with a towel over my head. now they all tell me they wish they had been more like me. genes do play a big role, too. my dad and grandfather both had skin cancer so i have been extra vigilant. when i was about 20, my 90 year old aunt told me i had beautiful skin and told me to start using Oil of Olay, which i did and i must admit, i like the way my skin looks. sunglasses are critical in preventing squinting lines. just thought i would give my two cents worth!
browneyedgirl36 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I noticed lines around my eyes in my early 20's. I smile a lot, so my face scruches up, which I'm sure contributes to the lines. Also, I don't wear sunglasses (they bug me for some reason), so I probably squint a lot, too. It looks from the picture you posted that you are closing that eye, or at least squinting pretty heavily. The lines in your picture look to be mostly from your face being scrunched up into a certain position. Noticing lines on your face -- particularly around the eyes and on the forehead -- in your 20's is not unusual at all. There are a lot of factors -- genetics, diet, facial expressions (i.e. the aforementioned squinting, furrowing your brow when worried or concentrating, sun exposure, etc.) that will contribute to the appearance of lines. If you're worried about it -- which you really shouldn't be, as it's totally normal -- you might check with a dermatologist. He or she might be able to give you some suggestions -- and maybe even some sort of moisturizer or something to keep your skin hydrated.
browneyedgirl36 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Oil of Olay....awesome stuff. When people tell me I look younger than I am, I tell them it's all because of Oil of Olay.
Ariel85 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I remember my first visible line was a crowsfoot when I was 27. Botox is your friend!
ATLstudent Posted February 8, 2009 Author Posted February 8, 2009 Oil of Olay....awesome stuff. When people tell me I look younger than I am, I tell them it's all because of Oil of Olay. What Oil of Olay products should I use.
shikashika Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I think a lot of it is genetics. I have a friend who is 35, and she honestly looks like she is about 20! And, she spent a lot of time in the sun growing up in Brazil. Other people I know watch the sun and I saw wrinkles on their faces at 25.
purpleduckie Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 wow, so oil of olay... i'm going to be on the hunt for that
Portage Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 number one is genetics, number two is NOT SMOKING!! I'm always told i look younger than my age, and i do love the sun, so i always have SPF in my moisterizer..ALWAYS!! i Love the sun and touch of colour too much on my face to avoid it completely.
lost1607307474 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I'm 21 and I've noticed fine lines appearing very gradually on my face. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, to be honest.
JeckyllNHyde Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 I'm 23 and the only signs I've noticed so far are very light frown lines (horizontal) on my forehead. Thank god they're not too visible yet. And under my eyes isn't really smooth, it has a few creases from laughing mostly. Oil of Olay: which one? I always thought I was too young to begin using it and that it's for 40+ skin? Do tell about your regimes?
BeStrongBeHappy Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Some of it is genetics and some of it is environmental. Sun, drinking, drugs, bad diet can all bring on premature wrinkling. If you have very fair skin or dry skin you will usually wrinkle earlier. Start wearing sunscreen if you don't, and there are creams and treatments that reduce the look of wrinkles. But stay hydrated and stay out of the sun, since the sun is the prime reason for skin damage like wrinkling and sun spots.
lana111 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 first signs of aging at about 21. nothing big, but noticeable to me. turned 27 and ive noticed a lot more things. once, again, nothing major, but my face/body just isnt the same. ugh
waveseer Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 My skin is about the same as when I was in my twenties. Yes I have a few more smile lines at the corners of my eyes (probably from squinting when out on the water), but in general I look about the same as I did ten years ago except for being in way better shape. I am prone to a little acne even still, so I think the extra oil may be keeping my skin more elastic.
browneyedgirl36 Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 wow, so oil of olay... i'm going to be on the hunt for that Yeah...it does help. Just the regular mositurizer is OK, but they also have the "age-defying" one as well as a more expensive line (the name of that particular line escapes me now.). I think it's good stuff. Obviously, it can't stop the aging process, but it helps keep skin moisturized/hydrated. I don't use night cream because my skin is already pretty oily, but I use my moisturizer every morning after I wash my face. Sunscreen is essential, too. I don't wear sunglasses, which I think has contributed to some of the lines around my eyes), but I DO wear sunscreen if I am going to be outside for any length of time, and my make-up has sunscreen in it. Also: Having oily skin to begin with helps. I STILL get acne, and I'm almost 40. Sometimes, I hate it, but...as I age, I would much rather have oily skin than dry skin. I have a friend who is younger than I who has dry skin, and she looks significantly older than I do.
purpleduckie Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 that's disheartening! i have super dry skin. that's probably why i have wrinkles in my forehead already. *sigh* on the plus side, i rarely get acne. trade offs, i guess.
