emma34 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 so for the past couple weeks i have been experiencing bouts of nausea...mostly in the morning, but sometimes in the evening. i've only actually threw up once and that was in the evening. i guess im a little concerned i could be pregnant. im not expecting my period for another week. i take iron supplements everyday, and a side effect is nausea, but ive been taking it for years and never felt it until the last couple weeks. could anyone explain to me what morning sickness is like? and any other pregnancy symptoms i should watch for?
sophie274 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 The first symptom of pregnancy is usually a missed period. Other than that: breast pain, frequent urination, cramping, "moodiness", fatigue, nausea. If your period is still a week away, and you had gotten pregnant this cycle, it would be quite unlikely for you to be experiencing morning sickness this soon. If I were you I would buy a pregnancy test now, and if your period does not come as expected, take a test. If you get a negative, but your period still does not come, wait a week and re-take. Have you had unprotected sex?
emma34 Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 yes and no. i was antibiotics awhile ago for bronchitis, and during that time i had sex a few times...i was on the pill, but i was later told that antibiotics can make birth control pills not work.

During this cycle? Was your last period normal? If you think you might have gotten pregnant during your last cycle, you could take a test now.
sophie274 Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Before you worry too much, here is a little article about how antibiotics can affect the effectiveness of the birth control pill. The effect is a lot less common than people seem to think. link removed
Taylor527 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I really wouldn't worry too much... I know for me I didn't start getting nauseous and vomiting until I was a good 6 weeks along. Which means it was about 2-3 weeks after my missed period. I think its too early, if you were pregnant, to have morning sickness. Plus morning sickness doesn't mean only mornings - its really all day sickness. Don't know why they call it morning sickness! But, only way to know for sure is to take a pregnancy test.
lost1607307474 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 It's really too hard to tell. So many times I've experienced morning nausea and got worried that it was morning sickness but it never was - it was always just random nausea probably incurred from stress, diet, migraines, or a tummy bug. It's also true that when you a pregnant you don't really start getting morning sickness for a month or so (well with me anyway.) I wouldn't worry too much!
