I am so depressed - I am growing old

I am going to be 25 in a few months. So that's it, right?

I am not considered a kid anymore by my mother.

Kids around me call me uncle!

Being 25, I think I am old enough to say "kids today _________!"

The problem is not growing old. But it is growing old without doing anything worthwhile. Life just passed me by and I just didn't notice.

I am so depressed.

You're 25, life hasn't passed you by yet. You wanna say things like that, wait till you're 45 and if you haven't achieved anything by then, you'll have cause to. People today succeed later because a lot of time is spent preparing - school, etc. Alexander the Great conquered the world by the time he was 30, but he didn't have to be in school until he was 24

Stop feeling sorry for yourself and go do something productive.

First off, you're in your 20s so only one quarter thru life.

Second, if you haven't accomplished anything, no one is going to do that for you, and you need to start making a list of things you want to do with your life, then making plans that allow you to do them.

Part of being an adult is no longer thinking like a child. You're in charge, so take charge!

Your 20's and 30's are great years. You are old enough to do all the things you want but still young enough to have plenty of energy and physical health. It's really the best time. You have all kinds of time to start doing the things you want.

If you feel you haven't done anything worthwhile then make a list. Go out and start doing those things. Travel. See the world. Volunteer your time at some places and go make a difference in people's lives.

It's only too late when you're dead. Until then, you always have time to make a difference.

Man I loved being 25, I always said I wish I could be 25 forever. It's a good time in life...at least it was for me. Out of college, good job, some real world responisibilities but still having a good time...hell I am 33 and still try to have a good time...Anyway i suppose 25 is what you make of it.

Ok, I'll go against the majority here: My 20's pretty much sucked and you couldn't pay me enough to go back to being that age again. For me, life has definitely improved with time & age.

I find myself in my mid-40's in better physical condition/shape/health than I have ever been and in better mental/emotional condition/health than at many other points in my life.

The only solution to feeling like you haven't done anything worthwhile and life is passing you by is to stop the pity party, figure out what it is you want to do, then get off your ass and DO it. This sounds deceptively simple, but it is not easy. However, figuring out what you want and then taking steps toward getting to that goal is the only way I know to get anything accomplished.

Yep. Do something you find worthwhile. Doesn't matter specifically what it is, but just as long as you feel it's worthwhile. Personally, I'll be 25 this coming May, same boat as you, except I am in the military here in Germany. Perfect damn opportunity to see things most people who are 25 and in the US will ever see. Now all I need is to work on getting the right car... *Mumble*

Haha you guys are right. I think I may have to get things done instead of whine. But it is so hard to actually get some work done!

Nowadays I just mope around being depressed all the time.
