PsychGirly
So I had my first pap last week, & they just called me with the results. I'm negative for Chlamydia & Gonorrhea, but they said they found "abnormalities" that may be related to HPV She said it's pretty normal/common with girls in my age group, but I'm FREAKING OUT. My appointment isn't until Tuesday. I have to go in & she's gonna perform a biopsy & send it in to the lab. Anyone else had this happen before?? Should I be worried? Link to comment
Scorpion Fury
I had it when I was a teen, the cells were high risk, so they had to remove them. They never came back, and they usually don't unless you have a weak immune system. Something like 80% or some crazy high number of people have some form of HPV. It shouldn't be a big deal. The type you have is not the same kind that causes warts Link to comment
Scorpion Fury
if you even have it, i mean. you might not Link to comment
waveseer
I've never had an abnormal pap but I can tell you that freaking out will not help you get to where you want to go, which is completely healthy. Link to comment
jengh
Every couple of years, I have an abnormal pap... same as you, initially, they thought it was related to HPV... but I had more in-depth testing done and another PAP in 6 months and everything was back to normal... no HPV either... try not to stress out too much... i know it's hard! PsychGirly
The thing is, I've only had 2 partners. My ex was over a year ago, & my current bf was just recently. The doctor said it's most likely from my ex. Only way it's from my current is if the form of HPV is so aggressive that it took over my body this soon (only been sleeping with him for a couple of weeks). I know it doesn't help to worry, but they scared the crap out of me. I just wanted to know if anyone else has been through it & what the case was, what happened in the long-run, etc. Link to comment

I got the cells removed, had another pap 3 months later (normal), another 3 months after that (normal), another 6 months later (normal), another 6 months after that (normal), and then i was told i could go back to yearly paps and it never came back Link to comment

Ac143
I had an adnormal one 2yrs ago, they said it was high risk and thought it was HPV. Then I had another test, can back normal. The doctor never had an answer why the pap came back that way. But I had a few since then & everything was fine. Dont worry about it, I know how you feel though I was freaking out too and only for nothing. Link to comment

Binoo
This happened to me as well. They mentioned abnormal cell division, HPV and cancer. However, this is quite common in young women. So, I had to have check ups frequently. But the second time I had an appointment, my tests came back fine and I haven't had a problem since. I really don't think it's something you need to worry about. Link to comment
