Sweet Venus
I wanna do sort of a fasting thing...without fasting too much.I need to lose about 10 lbs before my birthday. I am thinking of eating just fruit (fresh) and nuts, like almonds, cashews, brazil nuts etc for like a week. I will incorporate some exercise in there too a few times a week and drink a lot of water. Will this help me drop some weight? I've been going out a lot too and drinking beer so I'm cutting out the alcohol too. Link to comment
Scorpion Fury
That may put you into starvation mode. I made these mistakes when I was younger. I lost the weight, but it came back when I started eating normally again, and then some. I finally figured out it has to be a lifestyle, not a once in a while trend. Link to comment
Sweet Venus
Would it be ok to just do it for about a week or so just to drop some "extra" baggage? Link to comment
sarey
Short term, yes, long term, no. Link to comment
Sweet Venus
If I keep my calorie intake at about 1200 a day do you think it would be ok? Link to comment
Scorpion Fury
Would it be ok to just do it for about a week or so just to drop some "extra" baggage? if you're ok with it coming back after a week. It really will. I'm very anti-crash diet. Link to comment
Scorpion Fury
If I keep my calorie intake at about 1200 a day do you think it would be ok? You should eat a little more than that, depending on what you weigh. Check out this page. link removed Link to comment

agent1607307371
Your brain needs fruit sugar... since when have fruits become bad?! I don't know. When was it said they're bad? If she plans on making them the main part of her diet though that's too much sugar. I also think that, going on the assumption the OP has six weeks until d-day, by cleaning her diet up but not doing anything so restrictive and exercising she could lose about that. I wouldn't recommend fasting as a weight loss plan. It does nothing to fuel you, and doesn't help you lean to make good choices. The weight will come back when you start eating again. Link to comment
knightNshiningarmor
nuts are high in fat but still good source of protein but check them out they are not necessarily as health as you think and neither are some fruits...healthier then their alternatives but dont think by eating them yuor going to be fine...i once heard of a 500 pound man who ate almost nothing but oranges problem he ate 50 of them a day. so moderation and keeping an idea of what your eating is key...1200 caleries if your female and not obese then i dont think 1200 will hurt in the short term i think thats what they limit those girls to on that biggest loser show but 1500 maybe be a better number to aim for. In the long run youll most likely start running into deficiencies, so find out what kind of vitamin pack would be good for you. My advice for a rapid weight loss....is that cut back dramatically on anything processed and any fast food...incorporate much more veggies...celery is an amazing one its basically water and fiber. btw fiber is what you want because fiber is basically the stuff your body cant use but sits in your stomach making you feel full. but your gonna have to exercise your but off imo at least 2-3 hours a day of moderate to high cardio not just walking. just noticed you have 6 weeks...not 1-2 i was thinking but imo do talk to a nutritionist and tell them what your planning on doing a lot of them will give you some really good tips. COtuner
Cut out salt, you'll probably lose 5 pounds of water weight right there (and that includes stuff that comes in prepackaged, frozen foods and spice blends) Link to comment
sarey
Water weight is pointless. If you want to loose actual FAT, have a healthy balanced diet and be active. Link to comment

Alezia
Water weight is pointless. If you want to loose actual FAT, have a healthy balanced diet and be active. It's not pointless if you need to fit in a certain outfit ex: bridesmaid dress and you are really bloated. Of course if you are looking to lose 15lbs, it will be pointless. Link to comment
capbit
I think if you stick with what you said above and exercise, there's a good change you'll reach your goal. But you'll need to try very hard afterwards to not gain back the weight you just lost. Link to comment
Sweet Venus
Thanks. Today I ate a banana after I went shopping....then I did 30 minutes walking on the treadmill. And tonight I steamed a small bag of broccoli and cauliflower.I feel pretty full. Now I am enjoying a cup of decaffenated green tea I weighed myself and am 125 lbs......I'd like to drop just a few lb... ideally get to about 118 but mostly just wanna feel healthy. Link to comment
greensleeves
If you want to lose ten pounds by March, that's still about six weeks away and fasting or a crash diet isn't necessary, it would ultimately slow down your metabolism and you'd gain the weight back (plus more). You can lose two pounds a week (and keep it off) with exercise and a healthy diet. Veggies, fish, skinless chicken, eggs, fruit, grains, etc. Just stick to healthy portions and don't neglect any of the food groups...your body needs protein. Link to comment
