scared and alone
I fall asleep, a few hours later, literally, wake up and can't go back to sleep for another few hours or more. This is getting very bad. This happens every night for quite some time now. Even when I go to bed early, I wake up at like 1, 2 or 3 am and can't go back to sleep til well after the sun comes up. nurse1986
Dear Scared and alone, I am truly sorry that you are going through these sleeping patterns. Have you tried nightquil? Whenever I need to get myself back on the right sleeping pattern, I take quil for a few days before bed each night. If you need it for more than a week tho, you should seek help from a sleep psychiatrist. Link to comment
ButterflyWrists
do u drink caffeen late into the evening? And do you tire yourself out effectively? (I have the same problem but its none of what I just said) If it isn't either of these, try listening to music, and eating something light before bed. Nothing with cheese. If this doesn't work, it would seem like you suffer from a form of insomnia, and ask the doctor for effective ways of sleeping through the night. Link to comment
sarey
I have this same problem. Problems falling asleep, problems staying asleep, problems getting back to sleep. Are you under stress at the moment? Stress is one of the top reasons why people have sleep problems. Link to comment
karvala
I fall asleep, a few hours later, literally, wake up and can't go back to sleep for another few hours or more. This is getting very bad. This happens every night for quite some time now. Even when I go to bed early, I wake up at like 1, 2 or 3 am and can't go back to sleep til well after the sun comes up. A few questions (1) How long (in days/weeks/months/years) has this been going on? (2) Has this change been accompanied by any life change, such as a new job, home or relationship? (3) Have you tried going to bed at a different (earlier/later) time? (4) Do you drink alcohol or caffeine often in the evening? (5) Do you eat shortly before going to bed? (6) When you wake up, how often do you remember that you were dreaming? It's possible that none of the above have anything to do with it and it has a physiological cause. In that case, you should see your doctor and ask for a referral to a sleep lab, where you'll be monitored during a night of sleep, and various physiological measures will be taken that will quite likely identify the cause. COtuner
I do this (been up since 3am this morning in fact) but it's 99% of the time something bothering me that I can't shake. I have PTSD so if something triggers it I can't sleep for at least a week afterwards. If you don't feel adrenaline or stress symptoms, it could be your bed or pillow, some sort of health issue, and lastly some sort of sleep disorder from my experience. Link to comment
CallingAllAngels
I have been having the same problem, so I can empathise with you. Lack of sleep is horrible and gives me a lot of anxiety. My issue has been going on for 2 weeks now. I will be looking forward to the answers posted here as well. Hang in there...something has to give. ~Allie Link to comment
