Not the right time - need help with let down

I am talking to two girls right now which one is amazing and the other is meh. I am currently laid off and am not in the mind set to be dating right now. I really want to date this one girl later, we have so much in common and she is totally my type. The other one I could care less.

 

So what do I say to her that it is just such a crappy time for me right now and I need a month or two to get my life back on track.

Maybe say something like, "I enjoy talking to you and was thinking that maybe we could get closer in the near future, right now I'm bogged down with a lot of stuff, do you mind if we don't make things super official yet?"

Just stay in touch with her and be honest about the situation and say you need a little time to deal with what you are dealing with and you completely understand her if she wants to move on, but make sure she knows you like her, it is just a bad time right now, that you want to do it the "right" way....Im sure she will be open to you and still want to be friends until you are ready to ask her out on a real date..but if you both really like eachother, why not just go see a movie once in awhile until you have your feet grounded...

I told her tonight what is going on in my life and that I need to take it slow for now till I get my life back together. She seemed ok with it and we are meeting up for ice skating this Sunday. I haven't been in a while so it should be pretty funny and it will at least take my mind off all this negative stuff.

It's a tough situation because when you tell someone that you're not in the right place to be dating, it's often interpreted as you not being into them. But it sounds like you did a good job of avoiding that trap. Good luck to you in your job search.
