Ahh, okay, I can cope with feeling tired! I can cope with most of these side effects, but I just worry about my heart. LOL. I'm actually not sure if it is my anxiety causing my heart to act funny or if my heart is acting funny and that is making myh anxiety worse which is making my heart worse.

But I had ECG done and tests done and they were fine. So. Doc thinks it is anxiety related.

I tink I has health anxiety mostly. OCD does not help with that, I have to check myself a lot, and I obsess over things, check things, etc. It's scary =/

Eating will make your heart beat faster because your body is working to digest the food you just ate.

I have been having problems with anxiety and I can feel my heart beat too. I just tell myself that it is my anxiety. I'm much older than you hon and have been dealing with this a lot longer.

I was on Paxil. I won't tell you my experience with it because your Dr. thinks it's best for you. Give it a good trial run. If it doesn't work, there are lots of other drugs out there. Millions of people take it with good results.

Godspeed to you.

I been anxious/had OCD since I was roughly 10/11, maybe earlier. I hate it.

I keep thinking I'll die from my heart being like this

I hate it beating so hard and fast/slow

What happened to you?

What other medications have you been tried with before the abortive citalopram episode and now paroxtine? Clinical anxiety can be treated in a number of ways. Acute, powerful, episodes are ultimately best handled by benzodiazepines (of which Valium is the best known, but Klonopin may be better for you), for very short-term use only (because they're chemically addictive). If you're experiencing signficant physiological symptoms such a racing heart, then the use of beta-blockers for a limited period may also be helpful, though they wouldn't normally be prescribed to someone of your age.

Other than those, and SSRIs which you're currently trying, there are two more possibilities that I personally think might be even more appropriate for you. The first is buspirone, an anti-anxiety medication with relatively few side effects and open to longer term use provided you're not taking any other pills (other than the contraceptive pill potentially), and the second is mirtazapine, a highly effect anti-depressant with a powerful sedative effect that has been shown to be effective in Generalised Anxiety Disorder as well.

So depending on how it goes on the paroxetine (give it at least two months if possible), and what you've tried already, there are some more options for you (probably starting with one of the last two ideally).

ECG is where they hook wires up to you, like 4 on your left rib, and two on your chest, and two on your shoulders, and two on your feet and they test it on that big machine and you can see your heartbeat electrical thingies?

had that done.

Had a chest x ray too, and tests done in hospital. All came back normal.

Yep, that's an ECG. Good to hear that it was all normal. I do hope the paroxetine helps, and with minimal side effects. If not, get back to us here, and we can talk more about some of the other options I described. It will get better one way or the other, I am sure.
