redrose85
It wasn't for my tooth/jaw pain that I posted about earlier. I tried to go to bed around 2 AM and laying down was SO painful. At first I thought it was just heartburn, which I get every once in a blue moon, but it was hurting from my abdomen all the way around my back and shoulder blades. Just an unbearable pain. I tried pacing to see if it would stop, but it just got worse and worse. When I got feverish (sticking my head into the fridge and out the window!) and really short of breath, I woke the bf up and he took me to the hospital right away. Got a blood test done, got two meds injected into me, and I have to book an appointment for an ultrasound. They're thinking that it's gallstones. Bleh. What a night. The tooth pain paled in comparison to that stomach pain! I have been told not to eat ANY fat until I get an ultrasound to see if it is stones. Has anyone ever had gallstones? What did you eat? I think I may actually be relieved if it is gallstones, because then I will know why my insides act up so badly sometimes, and this may be preventing me from losing weight. Link to comment
Mythical_Suicide
Aw good luck hun. I had problems with my gallbladder awhile back, thankfully with time it got better on its own, Still flares up now and again but not as bad as the first attack I experienced. If you are able to have yours removed though I really suggest it. Link to comment
jengh
awww, oh no!!! I'm so sorry. I hope you get it figured out really soon Sorry I don't have any info for you regarding gallstones but man...feel better!! Link to comment
top bloke
did you have pain underside of your elbows or wrists? Link to comment
COtuner
My mom had her gall bladder removed early last year for gallstones. It's painful so I'm sorry you may have to go through that. You can live without it, just a few limitations on some things. Link to comment
beejcee
hi red -- gall pain REALLY hurts! i had mine out eight years ago and i still remember that pain. fatty foods do cause more pain --- no more french fries of chips for now or you will pay for it later. i also had real problems with soda drinks and orange juice. if you end up having to get your gall bladder out, they can now do it through five tiny holes in most people. the procedure was not bad at all..... i mean it hurt quite a bit when i woke up after the surgery but within a day i felt pretty good. it was amazing. plus -- the pain from my gall bladder went away. i didn't have gall stones. instead my gb was infected -- kind of like an appendix. i had constant pain in my side for five months. by then, all i wanted to do was get it out. as soon as i read the first paragraph of your posting, i knew it was your gall bladder. wishing you good luck and that you feel better soon. redrose85
No elbow or wrist pain, no. If it is gallstones, and I have to get the gallbladder removed (eep!) I'm worried that my IBS is going to get even worse. I guess by some fluke it could also get better. I am feeling okay today... I just ate a bowl of rice and broccoli- avoiding fats like the plague. Are carbonated drinks okay? The bf's Dad brought me ginger ale. He also brought me flowers and a movie to watch. How sweet! Weird thing is, I really don't eat that much fatty food. Recently I have been eating it a bit more, but I usually watch it just for weight-maintenance/loss purposes. I am about 10-15 lbs overweight though and for the life of me, I can't seem to shed even a pound. Hoping that this could be an answer. Thank you bee, that bit about the surgery is really reassuring! As long as you dont have these, arent totally fatigued and breathe good then its not your heart. I am a bit sensitive on it as i had heart probs 3 years ago today Link to comment
COtuner
I would not think it would affect IBS one way or the other, but who knows? The body is a complex system and I find interesting little correlations all the time. Link to comment

top bloke
Are you okay now, top bloke? Victoria- do you find that as long as you have very little fat in your diet, it is okay? I hope so lol. After that i appreciate every second as you never know whats next. I am breaking the mould of heart patients. I walk run several miles a day And doing weights to lower damgerous body fat and maybe even look peaky. Hope you get well soon. Did they check you for ulcers? Link to comment
beejcee
hi red -- i also have developed ibs-d after by gb removal. it is very manageable if i keep my stress levels down and avoid high fat meals... there are certain foods (like chips, french fries and bacon, anything greasy) that i have learned that i need to know where the bathroom is soon after eating..... it also took me awhile to work soda back into my diet. although it is low fat, it still bothered me. the key to finding what works for you is trial and error. trust me, the surgery really isn't horrible. i recovered very quickly. i only took two weeks off of work. i ended up being allergic to the bandaids that were over my tiny (less than one inch incisions). you will feel more comfortable if you eat bland foods right now.... i ate a lot of mashed potatoes, rice, and hot turkey sandwhiches during the time prior to my surgery. redrose85
Glad to hear it, bloke! beejee- I love eggs, and I'm not sure if they have too much fat. I know everyone's body is different, but can YOU eat eggs with no problems? I'm really hungry lol vic- not yet. I could have waited until this afternoon (from like 2 AM last night) in the hospital for the tech, but we both just wanted to get home and go to bed. The doc will be booking an u/s for another day. beejcee
i had no problem with eggs..... it truly is trial and error for each person. if you end up in pain, you will know to avoid that food the next time. i actually lost weight waiting for my surgery because eating became so unappealing to me because of the pain. like Victoria, i have very tiny little scars. prior to surgery though, i had to sign consent for the surgeon to make a much larger incision if he needed to -- the doctor will not know for sure until the procedure begins. top bloke
That is great!! My dad had a heart attack at 37 and open heart surgery at 40. He is still alive and he is 63. I was 37 too. It was ridiculous!! I am 40 now.... So life is good. People ..its the stress which kills us. Food is important but stress breaks our hearts, minds and organs. Needless to say it can kill great sex as well. Link to comment

redrose85
Well I won't know what the next step is until Feb. Ultrasound has been scheduled for the 5th. Darn! I should have stayed in hospital and waited for the tech. It could have been done already. Going home was just so appealing Link to comment
