Caldus
I guess I am just curious, that's all. I have always planned on getting a tattoo myself, but in a spot that can be covered by clothes. Either way, why does a guy have to have tattoos in order to be hot? They don't know anything about him. They don't know what he does for a living or what he does for fun, but if he has tattoos, he must be completely compatible with you. Can somebody explain to me what this is all about? I'm not into all of the tattoos and piercings business, but it's not like I hate it either. Just wondering, that's all. Link to comment
duppy_conqueror
oh man its just hot. it adds an element of 'bad boy' in my view. or alternative living for some reason. but only if it means something. then it shows they are hot with depth LOL Link to comment
Bella_Luna
I would never have a tattoo, simply because I can not cope with the thought of being an old and wrinkly tattooed Grandma one day! Lol! But more seriously, I am far too fickle and would change my mind about what I wanted, and those things don't wash off!! I am also not that big of a fan of tattoos on men, I love the artwork, it is gorgeous, but it's simply not my thing! Lots of my friends have tats and love them, I think it's all about personal taste. I am wondering if the rise in young women having them done is that they are now far less "Taboo" than they once were, they are stylish and pretty and modern, not fading blue ink that makes you look as though you are fresh from prison or a navy ship!! MyheartorHis
Definitely a bad boy thing for me. I have tattoos myself, but on a guy... it's just hot. It's like a fixation for me. It's great to start a conversation with and I have always been amazed by the reasons why people get what they get. Some girls like the Frat look on guys, some like piercings, some like guys that ride on bikes... tattoos are just another one of those things.... that Bad Boys have. Link to comment

Siriana
I connect having a tattoo with not being truly happy. I dated guys with tattoos in high school/early uni and they were unhappy with their lives. Since then, that's the very first thing I think of when I see a person with a tattoo. My personal opinion. Once on Ena someone said (wish i could remember who) how tattoos are actually one of somewhat socially accepted forms of self-mutilation. Of course it's been said much better then I said it now. And of course it's not always the case, but I believe it points something out. So now when i am older tattoos are a turn off for me. When i was younger it seemed cool because it seemed to be against the main stream. Link to comment

scared and alone
I think it's stupid but im guess im a hypocrite for being attracted to intelligence wait, what exactly is stupid? And are you saying tattooed people or people that are attracted to them AREN'T intelligent? That's rather insulting... Link to comment
sff123
I dont think tattoos are stupid but the idea that someone is a "bad boy" because they get tattoos seems a little silly Link to comment
scared and alone
I dont think tattoos are stupid but the idea that someone is a "bad boy" because they get tattoos seems a little silly oh yeah, i agree with that. you aren't a "bad boy" just because you have tattoos. Maybe its just because I like tattoos, but most people see tattoos totally differently than what most people that have them see them as. That bugs me. A lot of people see them negatively, I don't like that. If I wasnt such a wuss, i'd have a few myself. Link to comment
servedcold
Tattoos are a version of conformity with a counterculture or subculture element, and like any other conformity, make people comfortable. They allow a feeling of "pseudo rebellion" that is easy to do, like any other trend or fad. Back in the 80s, tons of young people got into the Grateful Dead, a way to be a rebellious hippie merely by popping in a bootleg cassette or going to a concert, easy, convenient conformity masked as unconformity. There's nothing wrong with this, we all go through it, and young men learn early that young women are attracted to a style of breaking out of social norms, making a statement of individuality, regardless of whether there is any true individuality or rebellion present. It's kind of like folks who tap into a cause merely by sending in a $20 check for a PITA bumpersticker every year. Sending in a $20 check doesn't make someone an animal activist, but gives the illusion of being one. Tats don't make someone a rugged individualist or nonconformist, but merely create a comforting illusion. Link to comment
JenniferSNJ
I usually like guys with tattoos because I prefer a more scruffy, messy look and those guys tend to have tattoos. But a tattoo wouldn't make or break my attraction for someone. If you have a dumb tattoo, I wouldn't be attracted to you just because you have a tattoo and if you have a cool tattoo, but I find you unattractive- then its just that. I also think that people with tattoos tend to be a bit more open-minded and live a more "whatever" lifestyle, which I like. Needless to say, I actually don't have any tattoos (don't like them on girls) so it's kind of weird I like them on guys Link to comment
Jess2006
Yeah, there is no connection between intelligence and having tattoos. And yeah, I am one of the women who are completely attracted to men with tattoos. I think, honestly, that it is one of my biggest turn on!! They look so hot on men. definitely a bad boy aspect. There have been several instances where I see a guy and don't think anything of it, but then I have seen that he has a tattoo and instantly feel more attracted to him, lol... I would never get one myself though. I only like them on men. Link to comment
afrodite79
I've always liked tats on men and women. I love art and feel that it's another way to decorate the body. I'm actually going to a shop to ask about getting one done next week. It's a memorial to my grandmother. A guy doesn't have to have tattoos in order for me to think he's hot but I like hearing why they got them and the meanings behind them. I don't think it makes a guy a bad boy at all. All types of people get tattoos and for different reasons. Link to comment
lostnva
I must say its the biggest turn on for me. There is nothing sexier then an educated, fun guy with tats. My second biggest turn on is if he is into music. All kinds! Link to comment
MyheartorHis
I do think some people get them to look "better" or "hot". Some tattoos are just NOT, though. I think that a guy who gets a unique tattoo and has a story about why they got it, it's a turn on. Thus being hot to me. Tattoos can be painful, I know... I have two. They also can be rebellious, since there are people who don't agree or think it's stupid it get tattoos. THUS bringing a bad boy rebellious swagger to some guys. I think it's hot. Some people don't. I can't tell you how many people have walked up to me somewhere and said "You would be so pretty if you didn't have tattoos. Why did you do that to yourself?"... which was insulting to me. My tattoos stand for something, and I love them. BUT I have also had comments like "WOW, what does your tattoo mean?" and stuff like that. Link to comment
Caldus
Is it hot depending on how many he has? What if he just has one on his upper arm or something? Somewhere where you don't see easily? Link to comment
Jess2006
I think tha most attractive body part for men yo have tattoos is on their upper arm, followed by their upper back. But if not I would take them anywhere, lol. Funny thing is that I have never ended up with a guy with tattoos!... I think that two to three are perfect; more than that would be too much for me. I don't find attractive guys who have their whole body covered with tattoos either. It has to be balanced... Me personaly, do not mind what the story behind the person getting it is. I value them for their visual beauty. Link to comment
Cognitive_Canine
I don't like it when guys have more than one or more tattoo. And, it definitely depends on the tattoo. However, one, nicely placed tattoo is a huge turnon. I can't explain it. Try explaining why a woman wearing black, lace undies is hot to you and I'll try to explain why a tattoo is attractive to me. Link to comment
MyheartorHis
Haha Debaser, I love your undies comment. But I think sleeves are hot, I really do. But if they are stupid tattoos that don't mean anything- it's the complete opposite. I have this guy friend who has over 13 tattoos, but half of them don't mean crap... and it's not that attractive to me. But yes, well placed one are a good thing... but the meaning of them is more important to me. Example: A guy with a small tattoo of his sign on his arm - turn off. A guy with a whole back tattoo of a tree, each branch for lost friends and family - HOTT! I guess I'm picky with tattoos. Link to comment
ghost69
only get one that means something. but it's just becoming more acceptable to have them. it's pretty common now. generational? perhaps. Link to comment
Scorpion Fury
I can't stand people that have a crapload of trendy tattoos they get just to get them, because everyone else is doing it, or when they get tattoos that they think will make them look like billy badass or something. Don't get tattoos just because you want to be more attractive to girls, that is the lamest thing ever. Link to comment

Don't get tattoos just because you want to be more attractive to girls, that is the lamest thing ever. So true. Some of the coolest tattoos I have seen. -Guy I met at a concert, he had a tattoo of a chainsaw wrapped with rose vines and his father's name accross it. His father had passed a few years ago and, apparently, they were close. -One of my drum majors in college marching band has music notes in a ring on his back. He is a music major and it is so perfect for him. I don't like trendy tattoos. I really dislike it when people get native american or asian based tattoos and they aren't from those heritages. Especially since I am a Japanese major and can often tell when the Japanese and Chinese kanji tattoos are fake symbols. One guy I saw had a symbol that was katakana "ka". That's right, his symbol meant the SOUND ka. Also, it wasn't even the Japanese alphabet...it's the alphabet the japanese have for foreign words such as credit card or shorts. Words the western cultures introduced to them. Link to comment
