why can't i keep a job?

Recommended Posts

i must be stupid, overly sensitive, or spoiled.. or all three.. I just suck at working. in the beginning of september i started working at duane reade. i HATED it. my managers were sooo mean and they made me be cashier aaall day while everyone else gets to do all the easy stuff. i've never had any experience with a cash register and my manager spent like 3 minutes showing me how to use it and then expected me to be an expert by the next hour. whenever i'd make a mistake, he'd yell at me in front of all the customers! ugh it was so annoying. so i quit after 4 days. it also wasn't worth it. i had to travel for an hour and a half each way and it was just so annoying.. the first day, i came home straight to my room and cried for like forever. i am such a big baby, lol..

a few days ago i started another job at this russian pharmacy. they sell a bunch of crap on ebay and amazon and i have to ship the stuff. i think no one there likes me because i'm not russian. they would just totally ignore me..which i don't mind because i like working alone. so today my boss told me to go home because i put a bottle of soap in a big bubble wrap envelope instead of a box. she said it will leak and the customer will yell at her and blah blah.. it will not leak! i taped the cap! gosh! she makes a big deal out of nothing..

is there something wrong with me or with the jobs i work at? i think i'm just too stupid and sensitive to work. sorry my post is so long. and please don't yell at me

I think your too sensetive. Nothing at work is a personal attack. Or if it is thats just how workplaces are!

Ive considered quitting my job many times but at the end of the day jobs are going to be difficult and its going to be tough and people may not like you. If you want the money you just keep your head down and get on with it and ignore what others think.

i have the same problem with my co-workers and my boss. the key point is to let it slide. they obviously need you there since they hired you and are willing to pay you money some people are just impossible to get along with. do the best job you can because that's all anyone can ask for.

and for the new things you need to learn for a job (eg. cash register) just try to learn. nothing comes first hand. some people teach others the trade through yelling because they believe it will teach their pupils faster. as i said before some people are just impossible to get along with

good luck with your job!

Well being a female you'll generally find being too much of a girl is somewhat natural!

When someone corrects you appologise and continue and try make a better job of it! They're just trying to get the message accross and help you (most of the time)

one thing I learned with experience is that no one, absolutely no one spends their time trying to make someone's work better if they don't think it's worth it.

my worst bosses were only putting me to the test so they could promote me, my worst teachers were the ones that at the end of the year or semester would come to me and praise the good job done.

it IS personal. be grateful for every comment, because if they notice your mistakes, it's because they notice your good work as well.

I think this has some wisdom in it.
