wurth_skidder
That's fine, but I can tell you most assuredly, that the FBI would have a VERY different stance on his actions... Yeah, they'd probably laugh that she put enough information to be found through GOOGLE. I'm sure they'd be so upset that he used legitimate means to find her. Link to comment
Ariel85
Wow, he went from finding her on Facebook to showing up at her doorstep. Let me reread the thread... You must have really read between the lines on that one because I don't see it. Go back and re-read what I wrote. An invasion is an invasion. Trying to find someone's identity online is just as bad as showing up on their doorstep uninvited.... Link to comment

So every single person you have ever searched on facebook knew you were going to search them prior? Does every single person you've ever searched on facebook know you've searched them? Trying to find someone's identity online is just as bad as showing up on their doorstep uninvited.... Stalking is a pattern of repeated, unwanted attention, harassment and contact. It is a pattern of conduct that can include: * Following the victim * Appearing at the victim's home or place of work * Making unwanted and frightening contact with the victim through phone, mail and/or email * Harassing the victim through the Internet * Making threats to harm the victim, the victim's children, relatives, friends or pets * Sending the victim unwanted gifts * Intimidating the victim * Vandalizing the victim's property * Securing personal information about the victim by accessing public records, hiring private investigators, using Internet search services, contacting friends, family, work or neighbors, or going through the victim's garbage. Cyber Stalking is the use of the Internet, e-mail or other telecommunications technology to harass or stalk another person. Read the brochure "Protect Yourself from Technology Abuse" from the Ohio Domestic Violence Network for information on how you can protect yourself from this type of stalking. Alright, you win. Guess I should call the cops on my friend Tania since she found me on myspace without my consent. Despite the legal definition, I don't think it's as harmful as you're making it out to be IN ALL CASES. Some people aren't as dangerous as the ones who stalked you. Link to comment
wurth_skidder
Oh, and based on that definition, I stalked my mom. I'll be seeing my therapist for that one for a long time to come. LOL Link to comment
wurth_skidder
wurth_skidder, it's not worth it, my friend. Ariel is two olives short of a salad. Agreed. She blew an innocent google search way out of proportion. I google myself all the time without asking permission. Link to comment
jaysfan2000
Fundamentally, stalking is a series of actions that puts a person in fear for their safety. The stalker may follow you, harass you, call you on the telephone, watch your house, send you mail you don't want, or act in some other way that frightens you. The exact legal definition varies from state to state, but all states now have some kind of law against stalking. Virtually any unwanted contact between a stalker and their victim which directly or indirectly communicates a threat or places the victim in fear can generally be referred to as stalking, whether or not it meets a state's exact legal definition. Right on the money Ariel. Clearly the woman who I never contacted is fearing her safety. You should join the debate team in your high school (I'm hoping that's where you go...if you're an adult...then I feel for you). Link to comment

wurth_skidder
Yeah, and even what I found says it has to be repeatedly. You repeatedly found information about her one time. Link to comment
