hers
How do you avoid calluses and cracking in feet? I don't know why my feet are so ridiculously gross all the time (sorry if that's TMI). I bought callus remover and that gritty foot scrub. Then I put foot lotion on them before bed. Still have calluses more often than I'd care to. I ca'nt afford to get pedicures all the time, and even then, they don't get rid of them completely. One lady used one of those foot razors that shaves dead skin off of your heels and ever since, the calluses have been awful. For what it's worth--I wear flip flops and go barefooted very often. I'm a dog walker so I walk a lot too. My feet get dirty. Sometimes I just take my shoes off while working and walk barefoot, just b/c I love the feel of the road and grass under my feet. I'm quite the hippy that way. I suspect that may contirubte to it, but even when it's really cold out and I have to waer shoes more than I'd like, my feet are still gross. Help if you can. Gracias. JadedStar
It's the walking barefoot and probably the flip flops too....barefoot walking will cause callouses because the foot has to act as the sole of a shoe would. You can keep the footscrubs and exfoliants and a foot moisterizer after but for so long as you go barefoot they likely will not completely go away. The foot treatments you will doing can help soften them tho. Link to comment
Mythical_Suicide
My feet get the same way for some reason even though I am very rarely barefoot. Wish I could offer more advice but I have tried everything under the sun with no luck. Link to comment

jengh
Funny, I had a feeling it was you posting this... I just bought some hemp foot cream from the Body Shop. It was like $18 but works soooooooo well. My mom's feet crack and bleed and it works for her. Link to comment
JadedStar
Have either of you ever tried a footsoak and then when you take your feet out of that and dry them use this razor like thing that has a guard on it, so it doesn't cut you, and shave off the deadskin? I don't know what it is called but my mom used to do this and she always kept her feet soft. I have not had a problem wtih callouses as of yet but I remember her using some type of footsalts and then one of those razor things. When i got a pedicure (have had one once in my life so i hear ya about not wanting to waste money on them LOL) they used that too after a foot soak. Takes the dead skin right off while the foot is still soft from the soak. For rough and deep calllouses I am sure it would take several weeks of this treatment to really get to the root of the problem. I am sure this will be tackle the really rough callouses better than cream alone. Link to comment

Yeah I have tried the razor thing maybe 3 times and each time it seems to make things worse so I tossed it in a storage bin somewhere and havent used it in awhile. So tired of using a ton of lotion and all that crap on my feet though. Grrr.. Always started to worry I was the only female with this problem since it seems everyone I know has nice smooth feet. striker_dude
My dog started chewing at my callous one day. It was easy because I had picked at it and it was like a hard flap sticking out. So first she nibbled, and I was going to say "No!" because it probably isn't a good idea to teach a dog that it's ok to eat pieces of their master, but I realized that she might be able to help me out. Turns out her small teeth are perfect for filing down that callous on the side of my big toe. My feet have never been smoother. Link to comment
hers
That's the foot razor I'm talking about. I heard it makes the skin grow back harder. I used it last night b/c I just could't stand it anymore!! Link to comment

I used it last night b/c I just could't stand it anymore!! Did it hurt? Didn't hurt at all when the woman used it on me when i got a pedicure. It seems that if you don't keep using the razors it could make them worse, you'd have to do that weekly at least ... my mom did it regularly that is probably why it worked. Link to comment

Once, I sliced my foot open SO badly I couldn't walk for a week comfortably. Then a lady doing my pedicure used it another time and she cut too close and I had a huge cut on my foot. I haven't let anyone use it on me since. I'll do it myself thanks! Link to comment

diamond78
Walking barefoot and with flip-flops are your enemies if you want soft lucious feet. Try putting some thick lotion on your feet and then putting some white cotton socks over them while you sleep at night. Keep that up for a week and you'll start to see a difference especially with the cracking of the feet. I just bought some Corn Husker's Lotion because it comes highly recommended for very dry/cracked skin.....Seems pretty good so far. Link to comment

JadedStar
If you can stand the feel, i bet vaseline inside of a rubber type sock overnight a couple times a week would do wonders! That stuff will soften anything! LOL Link to comment

Hmmm....Maybe you have extra stubborn feet? hehe Do you soak your feet every couple of weeks in warm soapy water and then doing some slight scrubbing with a pumic stone? Also, some light exfoliating with Baking Soda with a pumic stone might help...it'll soften up your feet too. Don't overuse the pumice stone though. but you probably defeat the purpose of all your footcare by turning around and walking barefoot. And there will be times when your feet may peel. That is normal as it's just the dead skin trying to remove itself for the less dead skin to become exposed... Link to comment

Put some on each foot, cover with plastic wrap, wait 4-5 minutes (recommended time): image removed --Then i scrub with this using the scrubby thing that pedicurists use: image removed Then I put this on my feet before bed(do this each night): image removed And they still are gross. Myabe if I kept up with it more. Link to comment
laisla
use a pumice stone in the shower to scrub your feet. soap and water are fine. then make sure you moisturize it a LOT! use something with vitamin E at the minimum. Link to comment
