gracerules2008
My taste buds seem to love those soft batch cookies that I sometimes buy at the grocery store. That's why I eat like 10-12 cookies in one sitting. But for some reason my stomach is not too happy about that. If I eat 10 of them then I get a stomachache. Does anybody know what's inside these soft batch cookies that might be giving me a stomachache? I forgot who makes them. The pain I feel is like a gnawing sensation in my upper abdomen. I hope you all know which ones I'm talking about. They come in a red package. They taste like they are almost homemade. There's like a total of 30-35 cookies in the package. I forgot to look at the ingredients on the package. I already threw it in the trash. Link to comment
Mythical_Suicide
My stomach would probably hurt after 10-12 cookies in one sitting too.. Link to comment
gracerules2008
These cookies aren't really that big either. Link to comment
Mythical_Suicide
10-12 cookies regardless of their size isn't really going to make your stomach feel good. Link to comment
renaissancewoman101
maybe the preservatives that make the cookies "soft" is what is irritating your stomach. But, I do agree with Mythical Suicide, eating 10-12 cookies at one time might make one sick. Link to comment
Pappers
Could be a number of reasons.... Gluten (wheat protein) is something that is often overlooked as an allergy. Do you get a tummy ache after eating other doughy things (like pizza)? Link to comment

Do you get a tummy ache after eating other doughy things (like pizza)? Pizza doesn't hurt my stomach. I could eat like 8 pizza slices and I get nothing more than a typical full feeling in my stomach. Let me see... Well those pillsbury biscuits that I made as part of the christmas dinner that I had with my family gave me a gnawing sensation in my stomach. I ate about 4 of those with my dinner but my taste buds loved it. When I say gnawing sensation it feels like an animal is in there biting me. Link to comment
gracerules2008
C'mon common sense should tell you , you are over eating.. That is why your stomach is hurting. Is this a serious post? Well not everyone is like you. Everyone has different degrees of common sense. One could say that the written driving test at the DMV is full of common sense questions but you'd be surprised how many people fail that test the 1st time around. Link to comment

Pappers
Hm, well people can be sensitive to preservatives... you might be I suggest to keep tabs on how your stomach feels with other foods - and check out gluten sensitivity just to be sure Link to comment
alli
I couldn't tell you what is the exact cause of the stomach ache you get after eating 10 of those cookies, but wouldn't it be easier to eat no more than 3 or 4 in a sitting & see how it goes? Link to comment

But, I do agree with Mythical Suicide, eating 10-12 cookies at one time might make one sick. I agree. That's a lot of cookies -- and, hence, a TON of sugar and preservatives. I know I have a certain "stop point" when it comes to some foods, mostly sugary ones. I've notice with M&M's (which I absolutely LOVE), I will eat a certain amount and start to feel sick to my stomach. I usually try to stop before then, but sometimes I can't help myself. It's probably all the sugar, fat, and preservatives that are doing this to you. You might try only eating 3 or 4 cookies per day from now on. Link to comment
BellaDonna
They contain dairy ingredients as well and a lot of sugar. Any of those things could upset your stomach at that volume of consumption. I don't blame you though....I know the cookies you are talking about- they are extremely delicious. I can't buy them for that reason- I can eat a row at a time. Link to comment
gracerules2008
Alright I'll try reducing it to 3 or 4 cookies next time and see what happens. Link to comment
COtuner
Soft Batch cookies and Crystal Light are two things I have heard people say can make them sick. Chemicals. I don't know anyone who eats that many at once, though? I ate those as a kid (the little single serving pack) but I don't eat anything with artificial preservatives / ingredients in them since I hit my late 20s. My intestines are so haaaappppyyy since I stopped! Link to comment

Sarati
Sarati's MOST EXCELLENT Chocolate Chip Cookies Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl, mix until smooth and creamy 3/4 cup dark brown sugar 3/4 cup white granulated sugar 2 eggs 3/4 cup Earth Balance buttery spread 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. (yes, TWO) vanilla In separate bowl, mix together 2-1/4 cups all purpose flour 1-1/2 teaspoon baking soda Gradually add flour mixture to creamed sugar mixture. Don't over-mix. If batter is too creamy, you can add extra flour, 1 TABLESPOON at a time. Lastly, add 1 cup chocolate chips and mix up. LINE COOKIE SHEET WITH PARCHMENT PAPER, DROP DOUGH BY TABLESPOONFULS ONTO LINED COOKIE SHEET, AND BAKE NO LONGER THAN 8-9 MINUTES, OR UNTIL CRISPY AROUND EDGES AND GOLDEN-COLORED. Remember, the LESS flour you use, and SHORTER BAKING TIME makes for chewy cookies. YUMMMMMM! Link to comment

Also the veggie shortening (Crisco) can be horrid on the stomach and intestines. Could be a combination with other things in his stomach too... Link to comment
CharlesF
I think it is the chocolate. Try eating 12 soft cookies that don't have any chocolate and let us know what happens. Link to comment
