WHy are paid dating sites better? I am on one and have gotten a couple views and flirts. The ages I am looking for too (a little older then me). ALso craigslist which is free has been good.

okcupid, plentyoffish, sites like that have been terrible.

I have always had beter luck with paid anyway. Best relationships came from them instead of free.

so why is paid truly beter?

I think the general consensus is that if a someone is paying for a matchmaking service, they are more committed to meeting someone, whereas a free site does not require any sort of sacrifice or responsibility.

dont mean for this to sound silly but is it like meeting someone in school or say a car club or something like that. I became good friends with a few girls in school.

oh and why do I keep getting spam on the free sites i am on spam for my ads lol

I refuse to pay for sites if I'm trying to date online. I looked at link removed's inventory of guys once (you could browse but not look at profiles unless you paid) and I recognized many of the pictures from the guys on OKC and POF. It seems that they're all on the same sites, so why pay for htat?

I'm in ATL too and have met a good number of people on both POF and OKC but CL is awful--nothing but black guys looking for a white girl with a booty. I stay away from it.

ok I need to ask... what did u put in your profile and did u meet them in real life.

First off, I don't write in "u". If a guy writes me anything like that, I automatically refuse his email. I think it shows a huge lack of either education or care about being intelligent.

I am very honest in my profiles--I've had guys write me and say that my profile was worth reading b/c it was funny, honest and blunt but also showed I have intelligence and know what I want. It's actually a good length--I refuse profiles that say "I'm looking for a good woman" and little else. I have in there the major things about me--I'm trying to better myself, I don't want kids and won't date anyone who wants or has them, I work every day doing a job I love, I am grateful for things and dislike cynicism for the sake of being cynical, etc. It's easy to say "I'm laid back and like the outdoors" but it doesn't really say much about you. I am also laid back and like the outdoors, but what will that reveal about me later on?

I've met a good number of people from those 2 sites, though I joined POF more recently. I have had one relationship (3 months) from OKC, saw a couple of guys a couple times, became great friends with a few, slept with a couple. I don't think one site is better than the other--most of the guys I see on POF are on OKC too.

It all boils down to honesty and interest in both parties. If you write me a generic email--"Hey I liked ur profile and want 2 get 2 know you, write back"--I won't even give your profile a view. If you write me and tell me something about yourself and say something that reveals that you actually read what I wrote, then I will write back. I give guys the same courtesy if I write them first, and yes, I do write guys first also.

I really would like to know why im getting more interests on paid sites as opposed to free ones. I mean its the same profile on both really...

And why do I keep gettting spam replies?

maybe I should post my profile here? get some help?

If you want, send me your profiles (of the free sites) via PM and I will look and let you know what I think. I've done that fora few people on here before.

I have never gotten spam replies on any of my profiles, but I hear it happens very often with men seeking women profiles.

Some people invest in paid sites b/c it shows that they are serious and that the potential suitors on the site are serious about finding a relationship.

I don't know if paid sites are any better than free ones or not. I've been with several free sites for 18 months or so, and had very little response indeed.

I was with Dateline (paid) for 3 months with no success, and now I'm really hopeless and dateless so I'm giving link removed a try for 6 months. I'm just keeping everything crossed that I have some luck at last!

i would think that people wanting to mess around with other people, play pranks, etc, or whatever, wouldn't want to pay to do it....so a free site would be best for them.

yea i have noticed that too. I have only met a few people on free sites out of several hiundred emaqils sent out.

My best luck has been on paid.

SO im sticking to those.

And a few hobbies that I know will work.

Not going to waste my time on this anymore.
