dtgrl812
I was happy last week because I got a job interview. I got a call from the guy last week. He quoted my cover letter. I thought that he was calling from one of the "company confidential" companies that I applied for, since my cover letter is not posted online. It was for a financial company. I assumed it was for a front desk position, since those are the only ones I have been really applying for lately. I went to the interview and when I went in the office, there was no front desk....it was the guy's office. The "interview" turned out to be more of a pitch. The company gives "free" advice and some how you make big money from this. I was really upset; because when the guy called I was sure to ask if I would have to do any sales and he said no.... the whole pitch was about sales and commissions. He also was very vague about the license issue--- he told me I had to get 3 of them one moment and then the very next told me I could make do with out one license. I just did not get a good vibe. Oh well--- back to the job search. Link to comment
Alezia
Congrats for not falling into that trap! Even though you didn't land a job, atleast you are not another fish in the bowl. Link to comment
waveseer
I overheard a couple trying to talk a young man into some scheme in a restaurant. I wanted to tell the young man that he was being scammed so badly but I couldn't figure out how to have any impact while they had their hooks in him. So I waited, we all left at the same time and in the parking lot as they were applying the last bit of pressure I yelled out as loud as I could, "DON'T DO IT!" I hope he took it to heart. dtgrl812
I did end up researching the national chain of this company. They did get a good BBB rating (for the national chain). That does not mean the local branch is that great. My interviewer just seemed flighty. He also mentioned grooming me for a recruiter position.... they way he did it was very similar to a mary kay pitch I heard once. Link to comment
Alezia
Of course they will want you as a recruiter... They make a % of what you make and what other people make. Hum.. this reminds me of a scheme with the name of a shape! =P Link to comment
Wolf_22
Sounds like another CraigsList scam. Link to comment
hmdreamer7
as they were applying the last bit of pressure I yelled out as loud as I could, "DON'T DO IT!" I hope he took it to heart. I love it! Straight and to the point. That's too bad that they had lied on the phone and tricked you. Good luck with your continued job search though. Link to comment
