Is pregnancy really supposed to hurt so much??

Whew....I am 27 weeks and my unborn son is positioned so that his bottom and feet are under my ribs...and I swear that he has restless leg syndrome! Everything in that whole area hurts so bad. I'm already plagued with constant nausea and my little sweetie pie is now trying to kick my ribs out.

Do you think if I have a shot or two of bourbon it would put him to sleep?? LOL just joking!! Kind of!

Must be something about boys. Don't get me wrong. My little girl was no angel, but all she ever did was hit my bladder towards the end of the pregnancy a couple of times. My son was constantly in my ribs. I remember pushing his little feet down on my right side because it hurt so much. Now at 7 years old...he is still a pain! But I adore the little booger.

Yeah,it sucks. By the time I had my son at 39 weeks I was completely miserable, I couldn't sleep, couldn't walk hell I could barely move around. My whole body ached, his butt was sticking out my side (still can tell a difference in my stomach on that side,LOL) by the time he flipped to head down position his feet felt like they were in my throat and his head was trying to push it's way out of my hoo hah constantly and it even hurt to pee.

While that sounds like a horror story, once I had him I forgot EVERYTHING. The pain, the sickness, everything.

I just want to hurry up and have him! We had an ultrasound today and some of the images are in 4D. He is so beautiful. We could see a little bit of hair on his head that the U/S tech pointed out and he was sucking his thumb in one. We got some great shots of his face. And then she moved up to his feet, which are in my ribs, and he was just kicking like crazy. The tech said it looked like he was tap dancing, and I'm thinking "yeah...right on my ribs". No wonder I throw up 24/7.

i wish i hadn't read this thread. now i'm terrified of ever having kids. =P

lol....But seeing my baby on the screen today made it worthwile. For me this whole thing has been a horrible experience, BUT holding my baby boy is what helps me get through it. I know that soon he'll be here and it will all be over, and a new kind of pain will form! lol

My daughter used to get highly agitated when my blood sugar dropped. I suggest trying a nutritious snack when he really gets going.

Great advice. I had been throwing up all morning, so finally about an hour ago, I ate some veggies and mashed potatoes, and he has calmed down. Maybe I just needed to eat something. I also took a finerigan tab for nausea, so that could have helped too.

Thank you so much!!

It does get worse. I can remember dropping to my knees as I walked at work because my son either hit a very sensitive nerve in my pelvic floor that felt like he had hit my funny bone, or kicked my stomach and made me puke wherever I was at the time. This was continuous the last 6 weeks. Not to mention the pain that comes when your hips start to become, shall we say, disjointed? I only had one child and that was fine with me.

Is the fourth D sound? It's cool there's so much technology available nowadays!

Good luck! 2/3rds of the way through!

The 4D images are really good and they really show the details like their little faces. And my little one has a little dusting of hair on his head. It's so cool!!

Cat,

do you find that Phenergan helps with your nausea?

My midwife prescribed Zofran today for me since Phenergan tends to make you sleepy. I took my first tablet a few hours ago.

At this point anything that brings relief is welcome!

Hi Hope! The phenergen helps...and it does make me sleepy. I also saw my OB today and she prescribed Zofran in the patch for me, so that it's a constant dose. I had Zofran by IV when in the hospital a couple of weeks ago and it didnt make me sleepy. I havent tried the Zofran patches yet, but hopefully they will help more! When I take Phenergen at home, I'm ok, but like today when I take it at work, I'm a zombie for a while! Not a good feeling!

Oh god, whatever you do, dont ever get Phenergen by IM shot. It's HORRIBLE!!! By IV it's ok, but not shot. It made me throw up, pass out and my I couldnt move my arm for 4 days. NEVER again!!!

Yeah, as an oncology nurse I am all too familiar with Zofran and Phenergan, IV it makes you zooooonked, IM hurts (it's a vesicant, irritating to veins, tissues and muscles). Zofran doesn't make you sleepy but it does make you constipated, which being pregnant and my iron supplements are already doing!

I'm hoping the Zofran helps....:splat: puking has become my life!
