HellFrost666
One of my snakes is loose. I've looked everywhere for her. I've owned her 6 years, in the same aquarium with the same lid. Never once has she gotten out. I thought the lid was pretty secure. And I just fed them, so it's not like hunger will make her want to come out in the open. I highly doubt she got out of the house... She could be anywhere. Anyone have any suggestions here? Link to comment
redhearts
I hope you don't have a cat or a small dog. Under furniture? Any little tight spaces you wouldn't think to look? Aww pet forum! Pet forum!! LOL Link to comment
nutbrownhare
You don't say how big your snake is, which might have some bearing on the matter. You don't say where you live, but what's the temperature like outside right now? Is there any chance she's got outside the house - if so, and it's cold, her movements will be relatively slow. Otherwise, just be patient. When I was a kid, one of my father's snakes (a king snake around 4' long) disappeared around October; he reappeared the following spring, having spent the winter under the floorboards. Presumably he'd got down a mousehole. They don't just come out into the open for food, they do in search of warmth and light, too. Link to comment
alli
She is probably in some hidden little corner of your house you would never think to look Link to comment
Sparkly Eyes
she can be everywhere, probably on softer materials . Maybe she is resting in some clothes, hiding somewhere dark under the couch.... also I think you should still put some food somewhere with the place rather be be quiet and dark. Altho she is full, but she may still want to check it out. Link to comment
yeawutever
Maybe she's hiding on the toilet, that tends to happen at times. Just keep looking for her and if you can't call the experts at it. Also do start putting what she likes to eat. Link to comment

She's over 6 ft long... and it's really cold here (right now about 10 degrees out before the wind chill.) SO, when I do find her she won't be too happy. she can be everywhere, probably on softer materials . She hid herself pretty well. I don't think she could have gotten outside without us knowing. Link to comment

I have two, male and female... You can't tell what sex they are by looking at them. They have to be "sexed" by a vet or a breeder. Link to comment
HellFrost666
I just went all over the house and put a line of salt accross every doorway. That way if she crawls around sometime in the night and goes from one room to another we can at least see what room she's in, hopefully. Now, lets just hope the dog and my roomates cat don't lick up all the salt. Link to comment
waveseer
I hope you find your snake. I had friends in college that lost theirs in the house and some poor coed almost had a heart attack when she found it on a stair during a party. lol Link to comment
lost1607307474
I'd suggest looking in warm places, don't snakes usually gravitate towards warmth? Link to comment
HellFrost666
^ Yea, they are cold blooded. My salt traps were effective. I know she's somewhere in the living room now. Link to comment

Wow, that was a really good idea I never would have thought of. Did ya find her yet?? I really want a snake.. a python. But it might eat my iguana & I would really not be happy about that! sophie274
I know this is not helpful ... but GOD that is my WORST nightmare! I really don't like snakes. If one got loose in my house I would honestly check into a hotel until it was found! I'm glad your girlfriend is not as squeamish! Good luck! I hope you can figure out how she got out, so that once you get her back she can't break out again. Link to comment
jengh
I lost Athena once... I was freaking out... the salt was a great idea! Have you tried putting some sort of heat source on the floor that she might gravitate towards? That's what I did for Theena and it seemed to work. Link to comment
DN
Do you have ductwork in the house that she could have got into? And try looking in the inside of the sofa or chairs. Link to comment
Cynder
That sucks! Especially this time of the year when it's so cold. It was good thinking to put the salt down. I really hope you find her... poor baby girl. Link to comment
HellFrost666
She's been found and she's back in her aquarium. My girlfriend sent me a text today at around noon and told me. Now I need to find a better lid for the aquarium... Link to comment
HellFrost666
Where was she? She was found behind the computer tower. But I know she wasn't there the whole time because that's one of the first places I looked. I figured it's warm there, so she might be back there. Link to comment
