IphigeniaSaysHi Posted December 22, 2008 Share Posted December 22, 2008 I work from 8am until 5pm and have an 45 minute commute. Anyone have any tips for what I could eat for lunch? My blood sugar plummets and I get really sick and lethargic. I thankfully stopped eating fast food for lunch a few months ago, and now I eat nothing. Can't win!!! Link to comment
EQD Posted December 22, 2008 Share Posted December 22, 2008 eat natural foods. i discovered the caveman diet as you well know and since then i have not had one spike or 'episode' of what i used to think was a normal thing after eating. breads, sodas, most flavored drinks, and other unnatural foods really mess with your blood... i can founder off of fruits and veggies and not feel bad. but i tried eating a little burrito and it threw me straight into it. yuck. plus i have lost alot of fat from eating all this clean burning energy. I like to keep dry and canned soups at my desk for alot of my lunches, I specifically like bean soups as they really tend to keep me feeling full. Sandwhiches and salads with lean meat are both good. If you're more of a snacker, hummus with crackers/pita/veggies; yogurt or single-serve pudding. Apples are good, easy to transport. Alot of people like the frozen dinner thing, they are inexpensive, stay good a long time, have alot of variety and can be well balanced. If you cook and can carry food with you, I love good leftovers from din din the night before. Link to comment

Not much OJ. Then lunch I would bring some sliced turkey lunchmeat, carrots, an apple, and some string cheese. Like 2 hours later my blood sugar would be like rock bottom and I would be all dizzy and starving.. I thought those were healthy! I feel less crappy when I eat nothing. Which is not good! So weird. She explains how different combinations of foods and supplements keep you balanced - it's not a diet book, and she's not a quack. I've had really great success with it, and a good dozen or so of the people I know are adapting it for their use too. You'll see why what you picked out put you to sleep. You would have been better off with an egg instead of the turkey, or a handful of raw nuts (no salt), for example. Link to comment
beejcee Posted December 23, 2008 Share Posted December 23, 2008 hi -- kashi makes a protein bar that is balanced for your blood sugar -- you know the right combo of carbs, proteins, and fats. my favorite is chocolate almond. if i eat that and a glass of skim milk for breakfast, i find i don't get hungry until lunchtime. for my hunger to be controlled, it all depends on making sure i get enough protein, especially at breakfast time. good luck! isn't it amazing how much you realize how food affects your body once you start paying attention to it? once i started watching my sugar i could actually feel the sugar rush in my system when i indulged -- no i don't even like sweet things any more. I checked this online and it is really really interesting and sounds exactly like what I need... but I can't pay $500 for the "package". LMAO Is there a book or something?
