waveseer
Last night it was so cold and I was home alone, so I cuddled with my dog (big dog) on the couch. She was so warm and relaxed, I found it very comforting. How do your pets help you cope? Link to comment
Crazyaboutdogs
It is a bit cool in my apartment...my dog is a nice warm body to cuddle with as well! Link to comment
waveseer
I wish I had a dog, fish are useless. Fish do have a use, when my daughter was a baby one of the only times she ever stopped screaming was when she was watching the fish. After she outgrew that stage, we gave them away. Link to comment
hers
If I'm crying, my dog will stop whatever she's doing & come put her face on mine. Sweetest, most loyal thing ever. I love when she spoons w/ me (she doesn't do it as much as she used to but it makes me so happy when she does). I love walking in my house & seeing her balled up on my bed or curled up on my couch, & when I start talking to her, she wags her tail so hard that her whole body shakes. Every night I talk to her about what movie I want to watch while falling asleep. I sya stupid things like "what movie should mom watch tonight girls? Well hers says I don't know mom I'm just a dog & you ask me every night! Well I know girls but I like your input!". Its so dorky that I do that but it makes her come over to my dvd shelf & sit w/ me while I look! So sweet. Link to comment
lila...
Aww that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, especially since I can relate to most of those things. My dogs are the world to me. One in particular is always glued to me, he follows me everywhere, when I sit on the couch to watch tv he sits on the floor just staring at me until he dozes off...my mom says he's in love with me lol. I adore him. When I'm having a bad day it's like he can sense it and tries to get me to play with him. He's the sweetest thing ever. Link to comment
Mock Chop
My dogs make me laugh - specially the smaller one. He's a bit 'special'. I got him about 2 months after my break up, a rescue dog with a sad past. He appears to be a cross between a staffordshire bull terrier and a pot bellied pig. Anyway, he's dim. Very dim. And he loves sleeping under the duvet on the bed, so much so that he'll dig his way under and grunt and snort if he can't. He's hilarious. I now have to fight for bed space with him and my other dog (a rottie cross). My house is freezing so they're excellent bed partners! Watching them play together - it's such a tonic. You can't help but laugh at them. Link to comment
Crazyaboutdogs
Yes...the tail wag even when you are talking silly...I love it. Always a captive audience when you have a dog! Link to comment
hers
Yes...the tail wag even when you are talking silly...I love it. Always a captive audience when you have a dog! The best part is that her tail is only about 2 inches long so it really wags like crazy when she's excited. She can be sleeping & if I just say "girls" (her most common nickname from me), it starts wagging. Link to comment

My dog's tail is quite long so I hear it slapping on the wall, slapping on the sofa, slapping on the floor. It's quite funny. Link to comment

My dogs tail is long too, when I walk through the room I hear "thud, thud, thud". I love it that she's always glad to see me. Link to comment
Mock Chop
My poor dog's tail was completely bald when I got him, so it was really whippy and sore lol It's fully covered now and never stops wagging. The Rottie Cross can clear tables with hers (obviously she's not docked). It's fantastic seeing the two faces staring out the upstairs window when I pull in at the front of my house - and hearing them thundering down the stairs as I put my key in the lock. Unconditional and very enthusiastic joy - like they haven't seen you in WEEKS. Bless 'em - I'd be lost without them. Link to comment

One dog on one side, the other on the other side. Such a cute sight to see. image removed Link to comment

hers
Here's a better shot of them. When I walk in the door, the yellow lab (Shane) jumps and knocks me over, and thn he runs to the back door and screams (he's very vocal). Meanwhile, as I'm walking throug the house, Gracie, the black one, drags me by my pant leg till I get to the door. It sounds annoying but it's really very cute and more like a love gesture than it is a lack of training. image removed Link to comment

Applewhite
Pets are cute, but how do you deal with the shedding and the smells? I couldn't live with one just because of those reasons. Although I am half-living with one currently, as my bf owns one. Link to comment

Although I am half-living with one currently, as my bf owns one. I have gotten very used to it. Leeluu sheds like nuts, I can't wear anything dark (she has white pine-needle-like fur) if I don't want her fur on it. But it doesnt really bother me. I don't mind the dog smell. In fact, I love the way my dog smells--like dog but not nasty. It's a comforting smell for me. When you start seeing their love for you and you start falling for them, those things don't matter. I am a little bit of an everything -in-the-house-must-be-clean freak. I can't stop thinking about how when they shed it is everywhere and it gets in your mouth, inside your clothes on the bed etc. They track mud, they shower more rarely then us and the list goes on. Also my bf's dog has a gas problem Link to comment
chigal28
Must give a shout-out to kitties. I have two, and they are just as sociable and loving/cuddly as dogs. As soon as I let myself into the back door when I get home from work, they run up to me and meow until I sit down on the couch...at which point they flop down, one onto either side of me, and purr. One purrs very quietly and delicately (you really can only hear her if you're giving her a hug, or when she literally wraps herself around my head in the morning), the other...well, he purrs like a lawnmower starting up. Never heard anything like it. They just stick with me whenever I'm home. If I go into the kitchen to wash dishes, they'll flop down on the floor and nap there, just to keep me company. They make me feel very loved, no matter what else is going on. Link to comment

chigal28
You have very loving cats. They are almost like dogs. lol Exactly, I know!!! My husband wants a dog more than anything in the world, but since we are in a small apartment with no yard and we both work all day, we're waiting on that...but even he acknowledges that our cats will certainly tide him by in the affection and hilarity departments (just not in the going-for-walks department). They are my babies. Link to comment
